Jérôme Commandeur Launches New Parody Series On Canal+

The Comedian Delivers Hilarious Sketches and Absurd Humor Starting December 18, 2024.

Jérôme Commandeur is back on Canal+ starting December 18, 2024, with his new series, Le monde magique de Jérôme Commandeur. This exciting release combines sketch comedy and parody, offering viewers a hilarious look at the world of television, cinema, and beyond.

The series consists of eight episodes, each lasting 26 minutes, and presents Commandeur's unique, absurd blend of humor. Known for his impeccable impersonations and improvisational flair, Commandeur dives deep as he satirizes popular television shows, movies, and even the streaming giants like Netflix, without holding back.

Commandeur brings along familiar faces from the world of comedy, including Karin Viard, Marina Foïs, Alison Wheeler, Laurent Lafitte, and Louise Bourgoin. The cast embodies various characters and personalities, immersing the audience in reimagined versions of classic television content.

With its over-the-top style, Le monde magique de Jérôme Commandeur appeals to the nostalgia of audiences, revisiting iconic shows and segments. Commandeur's ambition lies within his ability to shift identities with every scene, maintaining the comedic energy reminiscent of greats like Sacha Baron Cohen.

To give us insight, Commandeur has said, "Un jour, j’ai ouvert mon placard. J’y ai trouvé du latex, du silicone, des invités... J’ai tout mis. Pas en même temps, bien sûr" (Translation: "One day, I opened my closet. I found latex, silicone, guests... I put everything in. Not all at once, of course."). His comedic approach is chaotic yet brilliant, as he often contemplates the absurdity of contemporary media.

Among the parodies, viewers can expect hilarious takes on cooking shows - think of Maïté but turned on its head - and popular competitions such as Qui veut être mon associé?, creatively transformed to Qui veut être mon portefeuille?. This comedic fabric interweaves with the impressive guest lineup which includes well-known names like Eddy Mitchell, Valérie Lemercier, and many others.

Lyes Boudechiche, Canal+'s Director of Programs, praised Commandeur for eleving the art of parody, stating, "Jérôme Commandeur pousse, ici, l’exercice de la parodie à son paroxysme" (Translation: "Jérôme Commandeur takes the exercise of parody to its peak here."). This accolade emphasizes how Commandeur is shining in this project, encapsulating the charm and skill it takes to create meaningful humor from familiar subjects.

Reflecting on his career, Commandeur began as an impersonator, first breaking through during the late '90s on the talent show Graines de star. Through numerous comedic sketches and film roles, he has carved out his space and reputation within the comedic world of France.

Interestingly, as he returns to his television roots, he commented: "J’y vais régulièrement comme invité, mais j’avais envie de l’idée du rendez-vous" (Translation: "I regularly go as a guest, but I wanted the idea of having my own slot"). This series not only allows him to play with ideas but invites viewers to join him on this imaginative adventure.

The series promises to be more than just comedy; it lives within the subtleties of cultural commentary, and Commandeur’s talent ensures it’s delivered with laughter. Fans can enjoy these innovative sketches every Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. on Canal+, starting with the opening two episodes.

All in all, Le monde magique de Jérôme Commandeur is set to not only reinforce Commandeur's standing as one of France's prominent comedians but also lights up the television space he has long cherished. With his unparalleled ability to captivate through humor and creativity, audiences eagerly await what absurd adventures Commander will showcase next.
