Hallescher FC Prepares For Key Matches As Youth Teams Excel

Exciting victories in the youth ranks pave the way for upcoming matches against VfL 96 Halle and FSV Zwickau.

Hallescher FC (HFC) is gearing up for a thrilling weekend as they prepare to take on VfL 96 Halle in the Landespokal semi-final on Saturday, March 23, 2025. With tickets available until March 21, 2025, at 18:00 at the HFC-Fanshop, fans are clamoring to support their team in this pivotal match.

On the day of the match, fans can also purchase tickets at the stadium starting from 12:30 PM; however, access for HFC supporters will be via the guest entrance. This semi-final is crucial not just for the prestige of advancing but also to redeem themselves after previous encounters.

In addition to the first team's aspirations, the club’s youth teams have also been making headlines. On Sunday, March 12, 2025, the U15 squad hosted VfB Germania Halberstadt in their own semi-final showdown. The match was off to an electric start, with Micheal Omorogbe scoring a quick goal just two minutes in, capitalizing on a defensive mistake from Halberstadt.

Despite having the upper hand, the U15s had to contend with a significant advantage when Halberstadt received a yellow-red card shortly before halftime, reducing them to ten players. However, as seen in many sports, having a numerical advantage does not always guarantee success. The young Rot-Weißen struggled to convert their dominance into goals throughout most of the second half. Yet, Noel Kanitz broke the deadlock further with a stunning shot from 16 meters that secured a 2:0 lead. Omorogbe capped off an impressive performance by adding a third goal, leading the U15s to a well-deserved 3:0 victory and a place in the Landespokal final, where they will meet the winner of the match between Union Sandersdorf and 1. FC Magdeburg.

While the U15s celebrated their victory, the U17 team faced a different reality just a few days earlier on March 12, as they squared off against FC St. Pauli. Unfortunately, the game got off to a disastrous start with St. Pauli scoring within two minutes. They quickly doubled the score before the HFC squad managed to put one on the board through an own goal from the home side. However, they ultimately fell behind again, conceding another goal right before halftime, leading to a 3:1 defeat.

Following the match, U17 coach Daniel Demmerle noted, “At the beginning of the game, it was clear that the long bus ride had taken a toll on the boys. But we will face this competitive disadvantage more often due to the group structure during this round.” Despite a rough start, Demmerle commended the team for their resilience in the second half, indicating that they showed potential for improvement.

In a contrasting match, the U19 team faced Viktoria Berlin and made a spectacular comeback for a 3:2 victory. Having struggled in prior matches, the squad aimed to regain confidence. After conceding a goal, the team reacted brilliantly, with rapid strikes from Samadi and Selimi flipping the score in favor of HFC.

Yet, with time running out, Viktoria managed to equalize in the 87th minute. Just when it seemed that another disappointment loomed, Zürn seized a chance in the dying moments of the match, scoring a sublime header to secure the win at the 93rd minute. This hard-fought victory not only earned three points but also revitalized the spirits of the team ahead of their upcoming matches.

Looking ahead, Hallescher FC will be hosting FSV Zwickau at the LEUNA-CHEMIE-STADION on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 16:00. Tickets are now available both online and at all regular ticket outlets, and fans are urged to purchase them in support of their team as they aim to establish dominance after an earlier loss in the season. With the crowd backing them, HFC hopes to capitalize on their home advantage and secure a critical victory.
