Guns N’ Roses Welcomes Isaac Carpenter As New Drummer

Frank Ferrer departs after 19 years, expressing gratitude and disappointment while new lineup gears up for major tour.

In a significant lineup change, the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses has officially announced the appointment of Isaac Carpenter as their new drummer. This revelation came shortly after the departure of Frank Ferrer, who had been with the band since 2006. The confirmation was made on March 20, 2025, following Ferrer’s amicable exit the day prior on March 19.

Isaac Carpenter, 45, hails from Tri-Cities, Washington, and has a rich history in music that dates back to his time with Loudermilk, a band that eventually rebranded as Gosling. Active from 1995 to 2006, Loudermilk/Gosling was a stepping stone for Carpenter, who later gained fame through collaborations with numerous artists, including Duff McKagan’s project Loaded. Between 2009 and 2011, Carpenter contributed to the album The Taking with Loaded, further showcasing his versatility as a musician.

His experience also extends to notable bands such as Awolnation, A Perfect Circle, and Adam Lambert, indicating a robust career in various music genres. Beyond performing, Carpenter has lent his drumming skills to studio sessions for soundtracks of films and television series, adding another layer to his musical portfolio.

As Guns N’ Roses prepares for their upcoming tour titled “Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things,” fans are eager to see Carpenter’s performance. The band is set to debut this new line-up in May 2025 with concerts in Asia, followed by an extensive European tour that will feature supporting acts like Rival Sons, Public Enemy, and the Sex Pistols, running until July 2025.

The transition comes after a notable period for the band, during which Ferrer served as the drummer for an impressive 19 years. His tenure with Guns N’ Roses began in June 2006, and he played a significant role in establishing the rhythm section that complemented the iconic sound of the band. Ferrer expressed gratitude for his nearly two-decade-long journey with the group, reflecting on the memories and experiences it afforded him.

In his first official statement since the announcement of his departure, Ferrer shared his thoughts on social media with a heartfelt message. “I will always have immense gratitude and love for Axl (Rose) and the band, but at the same time, disappointment that this chapter has come to an end,” he wrote. “These were 19 incredible years. Guns N’ Roses gave me transformative memories and experiences.” He extended his thanks to the band’s management, crew, and fans, whom he credited for giving him memories to last a lifetime. “I hope to see all of you again soon!” Ferrer concluded.

The band publicly thanked Ferrer in a statement released on March 19, noting the friendly nature of the split. “Guns N’ Roses announces the amicable departure of Frank Ferrer. The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity, and robust presence over the last 19 years and wishes him success in the next chapter of his musical journey.” The statement acknowledged Ferrer’s contributions to the band, highlighting his pivotal role in the group’s rhythms during tours, including their recent initiatives presenting Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan together.

During his time with Guns N’ Roses, Ferrer performed alongside celebrated artists and was instrumental in both studio recordings and live shows. His last performance with the band was on November 5, 2023, in Mexico, marking the end of an era for both Ferrer and the band.

As the new drummer, Carpenter brings a fresh dynamic to Guns N’ Roses, a band known for its transformative presence in rock music. With the combination of his extensive background and the established band's legacy, this new chapter promises to inspire both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

The excitement surrounding the upcoming tour and Carpenter’s debut has created a buzz among the rock community. Fans are eager to experience the new synergy between the members as they embark on their journey across Asia and Europe.

While Ferrer’s departure is bittersweet for many, the inclusion of a talented musician like Carpenter offers a hopeful outlook for the band’s future. As they adapt to this change, Guns N’ Roses aims to not only retain their renowned sound but also explore new horizons under the rhythm of their new drummer.

In reflection, Ferrer’s long tenure and the amicable nature of his exit underscore a positive legacy within the Guns N’ Roses framework. His heartfelt farewell through social media resonates deeply, showing a bond that goes beyond the stage, as Ferrer embarks on his next musical adventure.
