GTA 6 May Hit Nintendo Switch 2 Soon

Take-Two hints at potential support for upcoming console during financial briefing

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind the much-anticipated video game GTA 6, has sparked speculation about the release of the title on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent financial results briefing, company CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed insights indicating the potential for games like GTA 6 to be supported on the new device by Nintendo.

Since Rockstar Games released the first trailer for GTA 6, fans have eagerly awaited news about the game. Although scant information has emerged since then, the tone from Take-Two at their latest meeting may have ignited excitement among the gaming community, hinting at more opportunities for Nintendo players.

According to reporting from VGC, Zelnick acknowledged the longstanding partnership between Take-Two and Nintendo. He suggested during the financial meeting, "We have obviously had a long-standing relationship with Nintendo. We supported the platform when it made sense for each individual launch," highlighting the strategic nature of their collaboration.

This admission has renewed hopes among fans of what might be the first GTA title to make its way to Nintendo's console. Historically, GTA 5, one of Take-Two's biggest successes, was never released on any Nintendo platform. Instead, Take-Two focused on releasing titles such as Borderlands and NBA, which catered to the existing audience Nintendo consoles had. Yet with the release of the Switch 2 and the shifting demographics of Nintendo players, the potential for more mature and expansive titles has opened up, leading to broader possibilities for publishers.

"There was a time when Nintendo platforms catered to a younger audience, which influenced our release schedule. Now, with the Switch and potentially with the Switch 2, the device has the capacity to cater to any audience," Zelnick elaborated, emphasizing the changing gaming market.

While Take-Two's announcements are certainly promising, the excitement is tempered with caution as no guarantees have been made about GTA 6's availability on the new console. With the game currently set to debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo fans are left wondering how this powerful title will translate to Switch.

The release window for GTA 6 is tentatively scheduled for fall 2025, which aligns with Nintendo's strength to launch new titles just at the end of the major gaming seasons. The official timeframe, which spans from September to November, will likely make it one of the most sought-after games for holiday gamers.

Although details remain scant, the allure of GTA 6 on the new Nintendo Switch 2 cannot be overstated. Many gamers anticipate what enhancements the console will bring, particularly its expected performance improvements which could support dual-releases, aligning with the expectations for future-gen gaming experiences.

During the scheduled Nintendo Direct on April 2, Take-Two aims to reveal more about its upcoming projects, which may include details about its relationship with the Switch 2 and upcoming titles. The global event will begin at 11 AM Brasília time, and it's anticipated Nintendo will also shed light on the games expected for the new device.

Originated from the anticipated release of Civilization VII on the current Nintendo Switch, the possibility of GTA 6's eventual release on the newer console has gained traction, demonstrating Take-Two’s commitment to engage wider audiences across different platforms.

With Take-Two's recent depiction of the game release timelines and hardware capabilities under review, Nintendo's fans are left hopeful—realistically balancing their expectations for both gameplay innovation and broader accessibility.
