Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has recently announced new appointments and reassignments within his administration, aiming to bolster governance and improve public service delivery. The announcement, made by his spokesperson Sanusi Tofa, highlighted key figures who are stepping up to lead various sectors of the state government.
Effective January 5, 2025, several appointees were named, including Hon. Ahmad Muhammad, who will serve as the Special Adviser on Publicity. Tofa remarked, "Hon. Ahmad’s experience in grassroots governance and party organisation makes him a valuable asset to our administration’s communication efforts." This role is seen as instrumental for enhancing the communication strategies of Governor Yusuf’s administration.
Another integral part of the reshuffle includes the appointment of Ahmad Ishaq as Special Adviser on Works. The governor emphasized the importance of this position, stating, "Engr. Notably, Tijjani Goje has been elevated to the role of Special Adviser for the Lagos Liaison Office. Recognizing Goje's previous experience, Governor Yusuf asserted, "With Tijjani Kaura Goje’s extensive experience, I am confident he will effectively represent Kano’s interests in Lagos, fostering stronger inter-state cooperation." This position is viewed as key for connecting Kano with broader national initiatives.
Apart from these appointments, Sani Tofa has been named Special Adviser on Special Duties. Tofa’s statement highlighted Malam Sani’s distinguished service record, noting, "Malam Sani’s distinguished service in the judiciary and civil service positions him uniquely to overseecritical assignments for the state." His extensive experience is expected to provide valuable insights to the administration’s strategies.
The reshuffle also includes Ibrahim Fagge as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, alongside Ladidi Garko who takes the role of Chairperson of the Kano State Civil Service Commission. These appointments are particularly significant as both individuals were formerly Commissioners of Finance and Tourism.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed advisers and the seven commissioner nominees screened by the Kano State House of Assembly is slated for January 6, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House. Tofa concluded with optimism, stating, "These appointments reflect Governor Yusuf’s dedication to assembling a team capable of delivering results and addressing the needs of the people of Kano State."
