Giants Re-Sign Darius Slayton, Add Key Defensive Players

New York revamps roster with Slayton, Adebo, and Robertson-Harris signings.

The New York Giants are making significant moves as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. On March 10, 2025, the team re-signed veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton to a lucrative three-year contract valued at $36 million. This deal marks another chapter for Slayton, who has been a notable contributor for the Giants since being drafted as a fifth-round pick out of Auburn back in 2019.

Slayton, now 28 years old, boasts impressive career statistics with 259 catches totaling 3,897 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns across six seasons with New York. Last season alone, he recorded 39 receptions for 573 yards and two touchdowns. Notably, he tied his career-high with 50 catches during the 2023 season, achieving personal bests with 770 receiving yards. Slayton has proven to be not just a playmaker on the field, but also a leader off it; this past season, he was nominated for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which honors NFL players for their excellence both on and off the field.

Alongside Slayton’s return, the Giants have also fortified their defense by agreeing to terms on yet another impactful signing: cornerback Paulson Adebo. The 25-year-old was drafted by the New Orleans Saints out of Stanford as a third-round pick and has spent the last four seasons as a starter. Despite facing injuries, including breaking his right leg during last season's play against Denver, Adebo's potential is still considerable. He enters this new phase with the Giants on the heels of posting videos showcasing his recovery and workouts on social media.

Adebo's agreement with the Giants is reportedly worth $34.75 million, fully guaranteed. His track record before the injury is notable as he tallied 10 interceptions, 43 passes defensed, and contributed two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 52 games, including 51 starts. His expected role is to partner with Deonte Banks, making them the starting cornerbacks duo, with Dru Phillips filling the slot position.

Last but not least, the Giants announced the signing of defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris to bolster their defensive line. This signing is set at two years, totaling $10 million, after Robertson-Harris was released by the Seattle Seahawks. The 31-year-old defender began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears, where he spent his first five NFL seasons before playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for three-plus seasons. Known for his tenacity on the field, Robertson-Harris has achieved 11.5 career sacks and 67 quarterback hits.

Giants' defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who coached Robertson-Harris during his college years at UTEP, likely sees potential for his new acquisition to be effective alongside Dexter Lawrence on the Giants’ defensive front. Given the combined experience and talent of Slayton, Adebo, and Robertson-Harris, the Giants are showing strong intentions to build not only for current needs but for sustained competitiveness.

The moves on March 10 highlight the Giants' commitment to enhancing both their offensive and defensive capabilities as they gear up for the next NFL season. Fans will be eager to see how these players integrate and perform as they aim to improve upon their recent results.
