The popular Fukuoka-based udon chain, '資さんうどん,' best known for its rich broths and chewy noodles, is gearing up for its first ever expansion outside its home region with the opening of its first store in Kanto on December 27, 2024.
Founded in 1976, '資さんうどん' has become a beloved staple in Kitakyushu. The restaurant's signature dish features thick udon noodles paired with toppings like deep-fried tofu and meat, drawing on traditional ingredients like mackerel and kelp for its flavorful broth. Residents often refer to it as their soul food, reflecting its deep roots and popularity.
During a pop-up event held in Kanda, Tokyo, back in July, '資さんうどん' attracted considerable attention, with dishes selling out within days, indicating strong demand for its offerings.
The first permanent branch, '資さんうどん 八千代店,' will promise to deliver favorite items including '肉ごぼ天うどん,' and 'かしわうどん', among others. The menu also includes rice bowls and onigiri, which have garnered enthusiastic responses from customers.
This new location, besides its attractive menu, will feature 130 seats and operate 24 hours a day, year-round, albeit with some occasional holidays. A nearby shared parking space will also be available for visitors.
Looking beyond the opening of the 八千代 store, '資さんうどん' is planning additional locations. By spring 2025, two more stores are already on the horizon: one will be located in Sumida, Tokyo, and another in Adachi Ward, ensuring even wider access to their udon specialties.
This expansion reflects the growing appetite for authentic Japanese cuisine, and industry experts anticipate similar chains might follow suit, leading to increased culinary diversity within the Kanto region.
