France 2's "Quelle Époque!" Delayed For Miss France 2025

Léa Salamé's talk-show will air late on December 14, 2024, due to high ratings expected for Miss France.

France 2's popular talk-show, "Quelle Époque!" hosted by Léa Salamé, will not air the usual live episode on December 14, 2024. Instead, the channel has opted for a delay, shifting the show's premiere to 00h10 instead of its regular time slot.

This scheduling change directly results from the anticipated high viewership for the Miss France program on TF1, which consistently ranks as one of the most-watched television events during the year. The show has historically attracted vast audiences, with 7.54 million viewers tuning in last December, accounting for 41.9% of the total audience according to Médiamétrie.

Salamé's talk-show, known for its engaging style and lively debates, will not feature any new episodes this week. Instead, France 2 will air "Et ça vous fait rire?", a mini-series documentary celebrating the history of French comedy from the 1950s to the present day.

The decision to avoid broadcasting "Quelle Époque!" concurrently with Miss France speaks to strategic programming choices at France 2. It's clear they're aiming to protect viewership for Salamé's show, which regularly features significant cultural and political discussions.

Prior to the decision, Léa Salamé expressed her thoughts on the competitive nature of the programming and the significant pressure she feels stepping onto the iconic Saturday night stage once occupied by figures like Laurent Ruquier and Thierry Ardisson.

Salamé noted, "Il s’agit d’une case historique et culte de France Télévisions, voire une institution. Jeune, j’ai adoré les émissions de Thierry Ardisson..." This demonstrates her awareness of the rich legacy her show must honor.

Despite the change, viewers can still look forward to the next live episode of "Quelle Époque!" scheduled for December 21, 2024. With Léa Salamé at the helm, the show promises to deliver diverse and engaging content, ensuring its place as a key player on French television.

The upcoming holiday period, along with viewers’ fascination with continued cultural commentary and humor, weaves well with Salamé’s innovative approach to discussing societal issues.

Audiences can view the documentary series earlier and mark their calendars for the return of "Quelle Époque!" next week, as France 2 shifts gears momentarily to prioritize audience engagement surrounding iconic events like Miss France.

This strategy reflects not just the dynamics of programming but also the expectation for audience retention amid competitive broadcasting environments. Viewers will undoubtedly be eager to resume their engagement with Salamé's insightful platform, rich with wit and sharp commentary.

While most viewers anticipate the upcoming episode, the delay could serve to build excitement or curiosity about future discussions on pressing societal topics when the show returns.

With these programming decisions, France 2 continues to aim for high audience involvement, making calculated choices to maintain viewer loyalty and interest through innovative scheduling.
