Cool Weather And Dust Alerts Hit UAE

UAE experiences pleasant temperatures and weather warnings as conditions shift.

Dubai: A pleasant Sunday is on the horizon for the UAE, marked by cool temperatures and partly cloudy skies across most regions of the country. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), today's weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with clouds developing particularly over some eastern and northern areas, which may bring light rainfall and lower temperatures.

Temperature forecasts indicate maximums between 25 and 29°C for internal regions, highs ranging from 24 to 28°C along the coastal areas and islands, and cooler temperatures hovering between 16 to 20°C over the mountains. These refreshing figures provide respite from the typically warmer UAE climate.

Humidity will rise by night and persist through Monday morning, particularly over some internal areas. Winds are forecasted to be moderate to fresh, with stronger gusts expected at sea, leading to conditions conducive to blowing dust and sand, blowing predominantly from the Southwest to Northwest at speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h and potentially reaching 50 km/h.

Adding to the weather concerns, the weather bureau has issued warnings about rough sea conditions, indicating the Arabian Gulf will be rough to very rough with wave heights reaching up to 9 feet. These conditions are expected to persist from 3 AM Sunday until 10 AM Monday, presenting risks for maritime activities.

Meanwhile, the Oman Sea is projected to remain relatively calm to moderate throughout the day before becoming rough again at night. This variability stresses the importance for residents and visitors to remain aware of ocean conditions if planning activities near the water.

Earlier reports noted light rain fell intermittently across some regions of the UAE, with cloudy skies recorded on the eastern coast and northern areas. Clips shared by Storm Centre showed moderate rain on the Dibba-Masafi road as well as rainfall on Dubai’s Emirates Road around midday. The weather department had previously hinted at potential rainfall over several northern and eastern locations, turning to reality with localized rain events.

Despite the rain captured on video by Storm Centre, humidity is expected to kick up later this evening, and persistent humid conditions will likely spill over to Monday morning, turning the air sticky and less pleasant.

To keep the public informed, the NCM issued yellow alerts indicating fresh winds leading to dust and sand resulting in reduced visibility. This advisory is set to last until 6 PM today, urging residents to take caution, particularly those with respiratory issues or allergies.

An additional yellow alert has been activated for the Oman Sea, anticipating rough conditions with wave heights of up to 6 feet from 5 PM today until 10 AM Monday, mirroring the warnings for the Arabian Gulf. Both bodies of water are expected to experience variable conditions throughout the evening and beyond.

Forecasts for major cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi reflect similar weather patterns. Dubai is set to enjoy pleasant temperatures around 25°C, dipping to 18°C at night, whereas Abu Dhabi’s daytime conditions mirror those of Dubai with highs of 25°C and lows of 17°C.

With these weather events, residents are encouraged to stay updated with the NCM for any changes to alerts or advisories, especially those planning outdoor activities over the weekend.
