Malykhin was well-known within the KHL, beginning his professional career as part of the Ekaterinburg Avtomobilist system back in 2011. His talent quickly shone through, and he eventually became the team captain. Over the years, he played for several teams, including Chelyabinsk Traktor, Moscow Spartak, Podmoskovye Vityaz, Kazan Ak Bars, and Omsk Avangard. Most prominent among his achievements was winning the Gagarin Cup with Ak Bars during the 2017-2018 season, which also made him the Russian Champion.
