Former Home Health Aide Sought For Stealing From Elderly Client

Police investigate theft of over $1,000 from a disabled woman in Falls Township

A former home health aide is being sought by police for the alleged theft of more than $1,000 from an elderly resident of Falls Township. The Falls Township police initiated the investigation on February 4, 2025, after receiving a report from their counterparts in Bristol Township concerning reported fraud against a resident living at the Lakeview Terrace Apartments.

The victim, an elderly woman on disability, reported that Ashli Nora Mohamed, a 34-year-old from Trenton, had made unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account. Mohamed, who helped the woman with various tasks, including the sale of her vehicle in July 2024, is alleged to have used her position to exploit the woman financially.

According to police, the woman was informed by Mohamed that the sale of her vehicle would place her in a higher tax bracket, necessitating $400 for a tax specialist. Fearing the loss of her disability assistance, the woman handed her debit card to Mohamed to obtain the funds. However, it soon became clear that the situation was more deceptive than it appeared, as the woman later discovered unauthorized withdrawals totaling $1,020.

The investigation revealed that a withdrawal of $520 was made from the woman’s account at a The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown ATM in Bristol Township on February 2. Subsequently, $500 was withdrawn from a PNC Bank ATM inside a convenience store in Trenton on February 3. On the same day, both the woman and Mohamed were recorded attempting to withdraw more money than the victim had available at The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown. Bank employees sensed something suspicious, noting that Mohamed appeared to be influencing the elderly woman during the transaction.

In addition to the ATM withdrawals, bank records indicated that two further purchases were made using the account on February 3—one at a Dunkin Donuts in Ewing, New Jersey, and another at a store in Bucks County. Through these illicit transactions, it became evident that Mohamed had severely breached the trust placed in her by the elderly woman.

Further inquiries revealed that Mohamed had been assigned to assist the elderly woman since June 2024. However, her tenure with the home health care company came to an abrupt end when she was terminated on January 18, 2025, shortly before the allegations of theft came to light.

In light of these developments, authorities are actively seeking information regarding Mohamed’s whereabouts. Police have stated, “Anyone with information on Mohamed’s whereabouts has been asked to contact Officer Michael Collins at 215-302-3314 or [email protected].” Members of the public are also encouraged to provide anonymous tips at 215-949-9120 or via email at [email protected].

This case underscores significant concerns around the financial security of vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly. Instances of financial exploitation can lead to devastating consequences for victims who often rely on their caregivers for help and support. As the investigation unfolds, police are underscoring the importance of vigilance among the families of elderly clients, as well as providers of home health services to ensure that further exploitation does not occur.

As this ongoing investigation progresses, the police are determined to bring Ashli Nora Mohamed to justice and reassure the affected community that measures will be put in place to protect the elderly from similar fraudulent acts in the future.
