Emirates, the world’s leading international airline, is set to launch a daily non-stop flight between Dubai and Hangzhou starting July 30, 2025. This new route marks a significant expansion for Emirates, establishing Hangzhou as the airline’s fifth destination in mainland China, alongside Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
The introduction of this service not only strengthens Emirates’ presence in East Asia but also supports the growing economic ties between the Middle East and China. The flights will be operated using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which are configured to offer three classes and a total of 2,478 weekly seats.
Flight EK310 will depart Dubai at 9:40 AM, arriving in Hangzhou at 10:00 PM. The return flight, EK311, will leave Hangzhou at 12:10 AM and land in Dubai at 4:55 AM. These carefully timed schedules are designed to provide seamless connections across Emirates’ extensive network, which includes 38 European cities, 22 African destinations, and 11 Middle Eastern locations, as well as countries like Brazil and Argentina.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of the new route, stating, "Launching flights to Hangzhou is a milestone for our operations in mainland China and East Asia. As a global hub for innovation and e-commerce, Hangzhou opens new opportunities for passengers and cargo. This route strengthens economic and technological ties between the Middle East and China."
Kazim elaborated further on the significance of the new service: "Our fifth gateway in mainland China enhances connectivity for travelers and provides businesses with efficient access to East Asian markets. This aligns with our global growth strategy, positioning Emirates as the preferred airline for connecting the world to China’s economic hubs. We thank local authorities for their support and look forward to fostering greater global connectivity together."
Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, is rapidly emerging as a center for technology and culture. Known for being the home of Alibaba Group, Hangzhou is a driving force in China’s digital economy, with its cross-border e-commerce exports expected to surpass AED 70 billion by 2026. The city’s UNESCO-listed West Lake, Leifeng Pagoda, and Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City are major tourist attractions, while its thriving tech scene continues to attract global businesses.
In 2024, Hangzhou’s digital economy generated over AED 1 trillion in revenue, contributing nearly 29% to the city’s GDP. This economic strength makes Hangzhou a key destination for Emirates’ passengers, offering both business and leisure opportunities.
Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ERs, which will operate this new route, provide a premium travel experience. The aircraft features eight First Class suites, 42 angle-flat Business Class seats, and 304 ergonomic Economy Class seats. Passengers can enjoy the airline’s award-winning ice inflight entertainment system, which boasts over 6,500 channels in more than 40 languages, including Chinese. The menu will feature regionally inspired dishes, ensuring a culturally immersive journey.
In addition to passenger travel, Emirates SkyCargo will leverage the new route to enhance trade between China and the UAE. The service aims to streamline the transport of high-value goods such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and perishables to regions including Africa, Latin America, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. With faster transit times and reliable air freight solutions, Emirates is poised to meet the growing demand for efficient logistics in East Asia.
With the addition of Hangzhou, Emirates will now operate 49 weekly flights to mainland China, including double daily services to Beijing and Shanghai, as well as daily flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and now Hangzhou. This expansion reflects the deepening bilateral relationship between the UAE and China and supports the objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Emirates connects tech professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors from high-growth regions to Hangzhou, a global center for innovation. The new Dubai-Hangzhou route continues Emirates’ commitment to fostering global connectivity and economic growth. By linking Hangzhou to its extensive network via Dubai, Emirates empowers travelers and businesses to explore new opportunities in one of China’s most dynamic cities.
