Dijon Strengthens Community With New Projects And Births

A €3 million partnership and modern parking facilities highlight the city’s commitment to growth and sustainability.

Recent developments in Dijon highlight the city’s commitment to progress and community engagement as several key initiatives gain momentum.

One of the most significant moves is the unanimous approval of a €3 million partnership between the city of Dijon and the local council. This agreement, celebrated by both majority and opposition parties, marks the end of years of debate over financial support from the Departmental Council to the city. The funds are earmarked for several community projects, including contributions to the Maison des Associations, underscoring the city’s focus on fostering community development and support.

Meanwhile, the city has taken steps to improve its parking infrastructure. The Heudelet parking structure recently became the 11th facility managed by Divia, which is part of the urban management initiative by Dijon Métropole. Established after the acquisition was initially approved back in December 2022, the finalization only took place on June 18, 2024. The delay left many wondering why it took so long, but the council has since confirmed the parking will now charge the same tariffs as the popular Malraux parking facility. For visitors, this means parking costs €0.60 for the first quarter hour or €8.60 for 24 hours, with favorable subscription rates for regular users—€60 per month or €177.40 for three months.

To modernize Heudelet's operations, significant renovations were carried out over the summer. Upgrades included new toll equipment, restored pedestrian access, and improved lighting systems featuring LED technology with presence detection to lessen environmental impact. The facility also received enhancements with central video protection and fire alert systems, ensuring reduced inconvenience and increased safety for users.

A key addition projected for 2025 is the opening of DiviaVéloPark, a dedicated secure bike parking area within Heudelet. City officials are currently conducting capacity studies to optimize the layout and determine how many bicycles the facility will accommodate. This initiative reflects Dijon’s increasing focus on sustainable urban mobility and the growing popularity of biking among residents.

On another note, the city welcomed two new additions to its community recently. Rhodes, born on December 9 at 00:26 at the CHU of Dijon, weighed 2.95 kg. His parents, Antonela Mishtaku and Gerdjan Celaj, expressed joy at welcoming their first child. Just days later, on December 11 at 23:06, little Sacha made his grand entrance weighing 3.5 kg, bringing delight to proud parents Adeline Mekhantar and Julien Lirlo. These happy families signify the continued growth of the Dijon community, emphasizing the vibrant life and spirit of the city.

Overall, these recent initiatives and events reflect Dijon’s dynamic path toward community enhancement, sustainable urban development, and family growth, illustrating the city's commitment to creating environmentally friendly spaces and supporting its residents.
