Diego Pooth Shines On RTL's Let's Dance Stage

The rising star balances fame, personal life, and dance ambitions while navigating challenges.

Diego Pooth, the rising star of the German television scene, is currently captivating audiences as a contestant on the RTL dance show "Let's Dance". Born on September 10, 2003, in Cologne, he is the eldest son of renowned television host and advertising icon Verona Pooth and entrepreneur Franjo Pooth. Standing tall at 1.95 meters, Diego has grown up in the public eye, navigating the challenges and opportunities that come with fame.

The 18th season of "Let's Dance" premiered on February 21, 2025, featuring a lineup of celebrities competing for the coveted title of "Dancing Star". Diego is among the 14 celebrity contestants, including stars like Simone Thomalla, Christine Neubauer, Jeanette Biedermann, Fabian Hambüchen, and Marc Eggers. The show airs every Friday at 8:15 PM, with episodes available for streaming on RTL+.

Despite his fame, Diego maintains a level of privacy regarding his personal life. He confirmed in an interview with Punkt 12 in March 2025 that he is dating Louisa Büscher, although he keeps their relationship relatively under wraps on social media. "I am not a dance genius," he joked during the interview, expressing his determination to give his best in the competition.

Diego's journey to the dance floor has been shaped by a diverse background. He spent two and a half years at a sports boarding school in Florida, where he trained with the goal of becoming a professional golfer. However, in early 2024, he made the pivotal decision to end his golf career and pursue a degree in Digital Entrepreneurship in Berlin. "The competition is enormous, and only a tiny fraction makes a living from this sport," he explained to Bild, emphasizing the importance of discipline and hard work that he learned during his athletic training.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Diego is also carving out a career as a model. He made his runway debut at the Milan Fashion Week in 2024, showcasing designs from German designer Philipp Plein, and is currently signed with CM Models. He has ambitious plans for the future, announcing at the Felix Burda Awards in April 2024 his intention to launch a dietary supplement.

Diego's participation in "Let's Dance" is not just a chance to showcase his dancing skills; it represents an opportunity to establish himself independently from his famous mother. Despite wanting to step out of her shadow, he acknowledges the advantages that come with his family name. "Of course, my parents can open doors for me that aren't available to everyone, but I have to walk through them myself, and I find that very important," he stated.

As the competition heats up, Diego's training sessions have seen their share of ups and downs. His dance partner, Ekaterina Leonova, has not held back in expressing her dissatisfaction with their progress. During a recent training week, she described their initial sessions as a "catastrophe," indicating that they had a long way to go. However, she also remained optimistic, noting that improvements were being made with each practice. "Every day gets better," she reassured fans.

In a surprising turn during the eighth show on April 25, Diego swapped partners, dancing with Malika Dzumaev instead of Ekaterina. He remarked that the change in training style was refreshing, jokingly comparing it to an extended holiday. This light-hearted approach seems to resonate well with audiences, as Diego continues to charm viewers with his personality and determination.

However, fame has its drawbacks. Diego has recently faced the darker side of celebrity, particularly on social media. After posting a series of stylish black-and-white photos on Instagram, he was met with a flood of flirtatious comments, predominantly from older women. While some comments were innocuous, others crossed the line into sexualization, raising questions about the societal perceptions of young male celebrities. Diego, who is only 21 and in a committed relationship, finds himself navigating these complex dynamics of admiration and objectification.

As Diego Pooth continues to dance his way through the challenges of "Let's Dance," he remains focused on his goals. Whether he can secure a future as a dancing star remains to be seen, but with his charm, determination, and the support of his girlfriend and family, he is well on his way to defining his own path in the entertainment industry.
