Diddy Faces Expanded Indictment With New Sex Trafficking Claims

Federal prosecutors allege rapper coerced three women for commercial sex acts spanning years.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is facing serious allegations following the filing of an expanded indictment by federal prosecutors, which now includes accusations of sex trafficking involving three women, rather than the one previously identified. This significant development came to light on January 30, 2025, when court documents revealed the musician's alleged involvement in coercing women to participate in commercial sex acts, as reported by multiple news outlets.

The superseding indictment filed in the Southern District of New York accuses Combs of using threats and coercion to compel victims to engage in acts he described as “Freak Offs.” According to the court documents, these prearranged sexual encounters sometimes lasted multiple days and were allegedly recorded by Combs himself. Prosecutors claim these events were often accompanied by the distribution of controlled substances to the victims, aimed at ensuring their compliance.

"Like the Freak Offs, these commercial sex acts involving Combs and a female victim were prearranged... and often involved Combs distributing controlled substances to the victim, in part to keep the victim obedient and compliant," stated the filing. The legal team representing Combs, led by attorney Marc Agnifilo, responded to the new indictment by asserting, "The latest Indictment contains no new offenses. The prosecution’s theory remains flawed," emphasizing their belief in Combs' innocence.

Combs, widely recognized for his impact on the music industry as the founder of Bad Boy Records, has encountered legal troubles before, but this indictment only intensifies the scrutiny surrounding him. Initially arrested on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy back in September 2024, Combs has remained incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits trial.

The updated indictment not only identifies additional victims but also stretches the timeline of Combs’ alleged illegal activities back to 2004, as opposed to the initial 2008 date cited by prosecutors. Detailed allegations suggest Combs participated in trafficking women across state lines for sexual purposes, manipulating them through various means including monetary incentives, career opportunities, and offering assistance with housing costs.

Among the identified victims is his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who previously filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of rape and physical abuse, settling the case just one day after it was lodged. The indictment includes chilling descriptions of incidents resembling those recounted by Ventura. For example, it notes Combs was identified on hotel security footage during one episode of violence, where he was seen hitting and dragging Ventura back to their room during one of his infamous parties.

Further reinforcing the severity of the allegations, prosecutors describe how Combs allegedly attempted to conceal his actions through manipulation and intimidation, stating, "When Combs’ authority or reputation was threatened...he and his associates pressured witnesses and victims, including through attempted bribery, to stay silent and not report what they experienced or knew to law enforcement." These revelations bring to light the breadth of what authorities claim was not just personal misconduct, but part of Combs’ broader criminal enterprise.

The federal indictment expands the list of controlled substances allegedly involved, previously focusing on cocaine, ketamine, and oxycodone but now also includes methamphetamine and hallucinogenic mushrooms. There are harrowing assertions alleging Combs regularly encouraged women to engage in sexual activity by plying them with these substances at parties.

Marc Agnifilo, defending Combs, reacted strongly to the expanded indictment by asserting the prosecution’s claims are baseless. He stated, "The government has added the ridiculous theory...that two of Mr. Combs’ former girlfriends were not girlfriends at all but were prostitutes." He reiterated Combs’ commitment to fighting these charges and striving for vindication at trial.

Combs’ trial is currently set to begin on May 5, 2025, at which point the former music mogul will face multiple allegations, including those of racketeering as part of the conspiracy described by federal prosecutors. If convicted, he could face severe penalties, including the possibility of life imprisonment.

The new lawsuit against Combs is only one aspect of the multitude of legal challenges he is currently facing. He has been embroiled in numerous lawsuits from both women and men accusing him of various degrees of sexual harassment and assault, claiming to expose the extensive patterns of abuse he allegedly practiced throughout his career.

These developments highlight not only the gravity of the charges against Combs but also the potential impact on his career and legacy as one of the most recognizable figures in the music industry. What was once celebrated for its groundbreaking contributions is now under serious scrutiny as serious allegations of abuse and exploitation surface. This case serves as a stark reminder of the individuals often hidden behind the glamor of celebrity culture.
