British singer-songwriter David Gray is set to light up stages across Australia this November as he brings his highly anticipated 'Past & Present World Tour' to five major cities. Following his successful arena tour back in 2022, Gray is returning to connect with fans once more, showcasing songs from his latest album, Dear Life, which was released independently through his own label, Laugh A Minute Records, earlier this year.
The tour is set to kick off at Riverside Theatre, PCEC, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Following the opening performance, Gray will grace the stage at Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide on Friday, November 7, then move on to the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on Sunday, November 9. The excitement continues as he performs at State Theatre, Sydney, on Wednesday, November 12, wrapping up the Australian leg at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on Saturday, November 15.
Gray’s latest album, Dear Life, has been warmly received, described as the “deepest, strangest, loveliest” work of his career. The album delves deep with themes of emotional crises, resolution, mortality, and faith, marking another bold chapter for the celebrated artist. Gray, reflecting on the creation of the album, expressed, “I’m feeling very joyful about the act of making and sharing this music – and privileged to be doing so. I don’t know what people will make of it. But I have the same hopes and dreams whenever I release a record –that if you try and do something special, then maybe something magical will happen in return.”
Famed for his iconic hits, fans can expect to hear classic tunes including “My Oh My,” “Babylon,” “Please Forgive Me,” and “Sail Away,” alongside the new material from Dear Life. The tour promises to deliver unforgettable live experiences, with performances expected to span approximately two hours. This combination of fresh tracks and timeless hits highlights Gray's vast and celebrated discography.
Tickets will be available to international fans as well, thanks to Gray's statement about the integrated approach within his tour. Frontier Members will have exclusive access to presale tickets starting Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM local time, with general tickets going on sale on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM local time. Fans are encouraged to check the Frontier Touring website for more details.
Gray’s return to Australia is particularly significant, following his sold-out arena performances during the massive White Ladder Anniversary Tour, which occurred in 2022. His album White Ladder is considered one of the best-selling British albums of the 21st century, showcasing his lasting impact on the music industry. The influence of his music can be seen from today's artists such as Adele, Hozier, and Ed Sheeran, who credit Gray as an inspiration.
This upcoming tour also serves as a celebration of Gray's artistic evolution over the past two decades, since he first toured Australia back in 2003. Despite several visits and rising popularity, Gray noted his desire to continue growing and exploring new creative expressions. “There are definitely plans,” he remarked about the tour. “We had a fantastic reception when we came through with the ‘White Ladder’ tour. People really responded, as you might expect.”
With Dear Life, Gray has poured years of work and emotion, delving deep during production, which was initially set to launch earlier but was delayed due to COVID-related challenges. The passion and intent have culminated in what many hope to be one of his best performances yet on this new tour.
Mark your calendars for November 2025, as David Gray promises to deliver heartwarming music performances across Australia, blending intimate new works with beloved classics, ensuring fans leave with memories and melodies to cherish.
