Daley Thompson Evicted From Celebrity Big Brother House

The Olympic champion reflects on his reality TV experience after public vote

Daley Thompson, the celebrated Olympic decathlete, has been evicted from the 2025 season of Celebrity Big Brother. The 66-year-old sportsman, who won gold medals at the Olympic Games in 1980 and 1984, became the third housemate to leave the show during the live eviction on Friday, April 18, 2025. He faced elimination alongside fellow housemate Patsy Palmer, 52, but ultimately, the public voted to keep Palmer in the house.

During the eviction, Thompson was welcomed back to the outside world by hosts AJ Odudu, 37, and Will Best, 40. "If you ever get a chance, you should spend a couple of weeks in there!" he exclaimed, reflecting positively on his time in the house. Despite being voted out, he expressed a desire to stay longer, saying, "I would’ve liked to have stayed longer but I was quite happy to come out. Whatever way it went, it's you lot out here that matter." Thompson also noted that he was pleasantly surprised by his fellow housemates, stating, "I didn’t have high hopes for them in there, but they’ve been funny and revealing. They are great people."

The eviction comes after a series of dramatic events in the house, including the elimination of daytime talk show host Trisha Goddard, 67, on April 16, and former Tory MP Michael Fabricant, 74, the week before. Notably, actor Mickey Rourke, 72, was removed from the show on April 13 for making a series of inappropriate comments, including homophobic slurs directed at JoJo Siwa, 21, which led Big Brother to intervene. Rourke later admitted, "I’m actually ashamed of myself for getting that hot. I went over the line, you know?"

In the lead-up to Thompson's eviction, he received nominations from several housemates, including Palmer, comedienne Donna Preston, former Love Island contestant Chris Hughes, and CBBC presenter Angellica Bell. In total, he garnered four nominations. Palmer, on the other hand, faced five nominations from Angellica, Chris, Danny Beard, Ella Rae Wise, and JoJo.

Thompson's exit was met with mixed reactions from his housemates. Ella Rae Wise, a star from TOWIE, was visibly upset, bursting into tears after the announcement. She expressed her feelings, claiming she was upset for the others rather than herself, and described Thompson as a father figure in the house.

Earlier in the episode, the housemates participated in a bizarre task where they had to act like cats. They began the day with nine lives and faced various feline challenges, including chasing laser pointers and drinking from cat bowls. The task also included some light-hearted pranks, with Danny Beard tricking Donna Preston into crawling on all fours.

As the celebrity reality show progresses, anticipation builds for more twists and turns. A backdoor eviction twist is reportedly set to occur over the weekend, where one housemate will be eliminated without prior notice, similar to last year's secret eviction of actor Bradley Riches, 23.

Thompson's exit highlights the often unpredictable nature of reality television, where public votes can swiftly change the dynamics within the house. With the competition heating up, viewers can expect even more drama as the remaining contestants vie for the spotlight.

As the show continues, many fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on the evictions and the ongoing dynamics inside the house. Some criticized Thompson's contributions, remarking, "Who does Daley think he was a threat to?" and "Literally didn’t see Daley do a thing, other than sit with his arms crossed." Others, however, appreciated his candidness and humor during his time on the show.

With the next eviction looming, the stakes are higher than ever for the remaining housemates. As they navigate the challenges of living together under constant scrutiny, the question remains: who will be next to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house?
