The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced significant updates regarding the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Courses (CUET UG) 2025, including the release of exam city intimation slips and a postponement of the exam dates. On May 7, 2025, the NTA made the city intimation slips available, allowing candidates to check the city where their examination centre will be located. This year, the CUET UG exams are expected to see a record participation, with 13.5 lakh applications received.
The city intimation slip, which can be accessed via the official website at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG, serves as a preliminary notice for candidates. It is crucial to note that this slip is not the same as the admit card, which will be released separately. The admit cards are anticipated to be available by the end of the week following May 7, 2025, and candidates are advised to download them promptly.
To access the city intimation slip, candidates must follow these steps: visit the official CUET UG website, select the link for the city intimation slip, and enter their application number, date of birth, and the security code displayed on the page. Once these details are entered, candidates can download and save the PDF for future reference.
However, in a recent twist, the NTA also announced on May 6, 2025, that the CUET UG 2025, originally scheduled to begin on May 8, has been postponed. The new examination dates are set from May 13 to June 3, 2025. This decision comes in the wake of logistical challenges faced by the agency, especially after the recent completion of the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2025, which was under scrutiny last year due to integrity concerns.
As part of the new format, the CUET UG 2025 will exclusively utilize the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, featuring 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed within an hour. This marks a departure from the hybrid model adopted in the previous year, where some subjects were assessed through pen-and-paper methods. The shift to a purely computer-based format aims to streamline the examination process and minimize technical glitches that plagued earlier editions.
In 2024, the CUET UG faced significant challenges, including a cancellation across Delhi just before the exams due to logistical issues. The first edition of this examination, held in 2022, was marred by technical difficulties that raised questions about its integrity. To address these concerns, the NTA has implemented measures to improve the examination process this year.
With the CUET UG being a critical gateway for undergraduate admissions across India, the increased number of applications this year reflects the growing interest among students in pursuing higher education. The agency has emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth examination process for all candidates.
As candidates prepare for the upcoming CUET UG 2025, they are reminded to keep an eye on the official NTA website for updates regarding the release of their admit cards. If any discrepancies arise with the hall ticket or if candidates encounter difficulties in downloading it, they are encouraged to contact the NTA helpdesk at 011-40759000 or email [email protected] for assistance.
The upcoming CUET UG 2025 is poised to be a pivotal moment for aspiring undergraduates in India. With the new exam dates set and the city intimation slips released, candidates are gearing up for what will be a significant step in their academic journeys.
