In a poignant reflection of life’s fragility, two communities are grappling with the recent losses of Eileen R. Jones and Steven James Sheesley, both of whom left lasting impressions on the lives they touched.
Eileen R. Jones, aged 96, of North Canton, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. Born on March 12, 1929, in East Canton, Eileen lived a rich and fulfilling life. A proud graduate of North Canton High School, she held strong ties to her community and was an active member of the former Calvary Presbyterian Church. Eileen was known for her love of cats, her fondness for reading Christian fiction, and her passion for gardening and enjoyments like coffee and flowers. Though she had many hobbies, she always cherished the time spent with her family most.
For 68 years, Eileen was married to Jay Jones, whom she married on May 19, 1948, until his passing in 2016. Their enduring love story remains a testament to the joys of companionship. Eileen was not only a devoted wife but also a loving mother and grandmother. Her family recalls countless happy moments shared while she played with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Karen and Nancy, two grandchildren Monica and Jay, three great-grandchildren Max, Mason, and Elliott, as well as a host of extended family.
Eileen’s life was enriched by many. Her family offers special gratitude to her long-time friend, Fran Cox, and caregiver Karen Minor for their support in Eileen’s final days. The family will hold a service at the First Christian Church on March 24, 2025, with entombment at North Lawn Mausoleum. Friends and family will gather an hour prior to pay their respects.
In a parallel chapter of grief, Steven James Sheesley, aged 34, tragically passed away on March 12, 2025, in Evanston, Wyoming. Born on October 9, 1990, in Worland, Wyoming, Steven would go on to become a beloved figure in Rock Springs. He was known for his adventurous spirit, his passion for motocross and motorcycles, which mirrored his zest for life.
Steven’s artistic talents were matched only by his compassion, as he dedicated much of his time to supporting veterans, helping them navigate their transitions with care and empathy. In 2013, he married Meagan, and together they welcomed three beautiful daughters—Rylee, Alyssa, and Skyler—who remain his proudest legacy. Even after the dissolution of their marriage, he and Meagan maintained a strong bond of mutual respect.
Described as an incredible son and loyal friend, Steven touched the hearts of many. His parents, Jim and Lisa, stand as a testament to his character, offering unwavering support through every phase of his life. Steven is also honored by his many close friends and relatives who will forever hold dear the memories of his adventurous spirit and infectious laughter.
A celebration of Steven’s life will occur at a later date after cremation, allowing his family and friends to gather and honor his memory. Those wishing to honor Steven's life can make donations to The American Legion Archie Hay Post #24 in Rock Springs, reflecting his respect for veterans and their service.
Both Eileen and Steven remind us of the impact one individual can have on their community and the void that follows their absence. Whether it’s Eileen’s warm family gatherings or Steven’s drive to connect with his community, each has left a legacy of love, kindness, and adventure. Friends and family from North Canton to Wyoming share in mourning these beloved individuals whose lives enriched so many.
The outpouring of love and support from both communities is a testament to the lives Eileen and Steven led. Condolences and heartfelt memories can be offered via respective funeral homes' websites as everyone reflects on the cherished moments spent with these remarkable individuals.
