The Geissens' grand plans of watching the Formula 1 race from their yacht took a dramatic turn as the family faced unexpected challenges during their trip.
Robert (60), Carmen (59), and their daughters Davina (21) and Shania (20) were all set to begin the new season of their reality show, "Die Geissens," with what was supposed to be a glamorous outing aboard their luxury yacht, the "Indigo Star," but things quickly spiraled out of control.
Instead of enjoying their time cruising from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, the family was greeted by seasickness and an unfortunate shortage of water on board, causing bathroom complications. "Haben wir keine Armbänder gegen Seekrankheit mehr?" Davina exclaimed, showcasing her frustration as she battled waves on the tumultuous sea.
When they finally caught sight of Abu Dhabi's skyline, it became clear their troubles were far from over. Customs authorities informed them they couldn’t dock due to missing paperwork, prompting Robert to lament, "Wir haben keine Zollformulare, keine Visa, wir haben nichts." Despite the chaos, the self-made millionaire tried to keep his spirits up and press on.
Fortunately, after some back-and-forth, the Geissens were allowed to move toward the harbor, but almost immediately upon arrival, they were met with yet another hurdle: customs agents arrived with drug-sniffing dogs. "Die durchsuchen das Boot auf alles – Drogen, Waffen, Sprengstoff. Ich hoffe, die letzten Mieter waren anständige Leute“, Robert expressed his concern, alluding to the yacht having been rented out prior to their trip.
Then, the dogs made their mark, alerting customs to Carmen's Chinese medicine, which, unbeknownst to her, closely resembled marijuana. "Mama, versteck deine chinesische Medizin, die sieht aus wie Gras" quipped Davina, half-jokingly highlighting the absurdity of the situation.
The customs inspection turned tense as agents insisted on checking the family’s locked safe, which no one seemed to know the code for. It was only after Robert called their former captain, Ivan, for help did they manage to open it. To their relief, all contents were deemed safe, albeit the customs agents confiscated two gas cylinders, three drones, and even decorative swords, which they categorized as potential weapons. Robert, baffled by the decision, exclaimed, "Das ist doch nur Dekoration, aber sie sehen das als Waffen."
After what felt like the day of endless challenges, the Geissens finally reached their destination, anchored near the Formula 1 track, organized by racer Nico Hülkenberg. Yet, their woes didn’t end there. Carmen jokingly remarked about receiving stricter regulations: "Die sind hier sehr streng bei allem: Alkohol, Hunde, Autofahren – es gibt immer Probleme."
What started as an anticipated lavish experience turned out to be full of hurdles and unpredicted drama, perfect for their reality show format. "Was für ein Tag!" Carmen chuckled amid the chaos, embodying their family's spirit of humor even when things go awry. The Geissens' adventure, brimming with misadventures and epic fails, will undoubtedly keep their fans tuned in when "Die Geissens" airs on RTL2, Mondays at 20:15.
