Chandigarh Residents Urged To Participate In Swachh Survekshan Survey

MC Commissioner appeals for citizen feedback to determine cleanliness rankings.

The city of Chandigarh is gearing up for the upcoming Swachh Survekshan, and MC Commissioner Amit Kumar is urging residents to actively participate by providing their feedback. This important initiative, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, aims to assess and improve municipal cleanliness standards throughout the region.

On March 17, 2025, Kumar made a public appeal for citizen involvement, highlighting the significance of direct feedback as part of the evaluation process. With the survey expected to commence within days, it’s imperative for locals to weigh-in on the cleanliness of their city. “Public participation is the key to the success of cleanliness initiatives and encourages citizens to provide their valuable feedback,” Kumar stated.

The Swachh Survekshan incorporates various assessment parameters, including cleanliness, beautification, and the overall garbage-free status of the city. Additional factors also include the open defecation-free status and the newly introduced water plus category, which reflects improved water management practices.

Residents interested in contributing to the survey can access the feedback form provided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs through the online link at http://sbmurban.org/feedback. According to Kumar, the process is straightforward: residents need to visit the portal, enter their mobile number, select their preferred language, and respond to ten targeted questions addressing key cleanliness issues.

The survey questions cover various topics, including the collection of garbage, the general rating of cleanliness, and how waste is handled around the city. Specific inquiries are made about whether garbage dumps are adequately managed and if waste collection vehicles operate with segregation practices. Upon completion of the questionnaire, citizens enter the OTP sent to their mobile devices to officially submit their feedback.

The Commissioner maintained the importance of citizen input, stating, “This feedback will play a pivotal role in determining rankings.” With public collaboration being emphasized, the overall objective is to encourage residents to engage with the survey actively. Kumar reiterated, “We want Chandigarh to remain at the top of the Swachh Survekshan rankings.”

This year’s Swachh Survekshan marks yet another step forward for Chandigarh, which has consistently aimed high when it concerns cleanliness and urban management. The rankings being determined through citizen participation not only affect local pride but also reflect the commitment to improving urban living conditions.

Encouragement from officials has been made clear, urging every resident to invest their time and opinions to keep Chandigarh thriving as one of the cleanest cities. The Commissioner firmly believes community response can significantly shape the performance and future initiatives related to cleanliness and sustainability.

“Anyone can submit their feedback,” said Kumar, promoting inclusivity and accountability. The feedback initiative aligns with broader efforts across India, mobilized under the Swachh Bharat Mission, to significantly uplift sanitation standards nationwide.

With just days before the survey kicks off, Chandigarh residents are reminded of their role and responsibility. It’s more than just feedback; it’s about creating and sustaining cleanliness awareness, contributing to city developments, and enhancing the quality of life for everyone.

Residents are encouraged to engage actively and take pride in their environment, ensuring their voices are heard. After all, as Kumar eloquently put it, every piece of feedback counts toward making Chandigarh not just cleaner but also greener and more sustainable.
