Hanuman Jayanti is one of the major festivals of Hindus, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This sacred day honors Hanuman Ji, the Rudra Avtar of Lord Shiva, popularly known as Ram Bhakt Hanuman. This day marks the anniversary of Lord Bajrangbali. On this auspicious day, devotees offer prayers to Lord Hanuman and seek his blessings by performing puja.

The day falls on Chaitra Purnima, celebrated on April 12 in the year 2025. Purnima Tithi begins at 03:21 AM on April 12, 2025, and ends at 05:51 AM on April 13, 2025.

Hanuman Jayanti holds great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus, as this day commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. To seek Hanuman Ji's blessings, people observe a fast and celebrate this day with great fervor and grandeur. They worship Bajrangbali in many well-known temples.

Hindu scriptures state that King Kesari and Mata Anjani were the parents of Hanuman Ji. Among the Ashta Chiranjeevi who are still living on this planet is him. He is also referred to as Lord Shiva's Rudra Avtar. Among the many titles for Hanuman Ji are Maruti Nandan, Bajrangbali, Pawan Putra, Veer Hanumana, Sundar (a name his mother gave him when he was a child), and Sankat Mochan, who takes away all of his followers' miseries.

Because of his strength and power, Hanuman Ji is thought to be able to accomplish anything, even tasks that seem impossible. In the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman is said to have saved Laxman by carrying an entire mountain on his shoulder to deliver the Sanjeevani booti.

Lord Hanuman once traveled to Lanka in search of Sita Mata, where he killed Ravana's son Akshay Kumar and set Lanka on fire. He entered Ravana's kingdom by using his abilities to shrink to minuscule size. The Ramayana contains numerous noteworthy events, such as the discovery of Goddess Sita, the burning of Lanka from his tail, and when the battle was happening between Shri Ram and Ravana, and Meghnad tried to kill Laxman Ji, then Lord Hanuman brought the mountain for Sanjeevani Booti to save Laxman.

Another tale from the Mahabharata mentions that since Lord Hanuman is a Chiranjeevi, he was present during the Mahabharata battle. It is believed that Lord Krishna requested Hanuman Ji to appear atop Arjun's chariot during the Mahabharata Yuddha. According to the tales, the triumph would not have been achieved if Lord Hanuman had not been on the chariot, and the text states that as Arjun got out of the chariot, it turned to ashes.

All Hindus commemorate Hanuman Janmotsav with great zeal throughout the nation. All of the Hanuman temples are decked out with lights and flowers, and worshippers come to pray to Hanuman Ji. To seek the blessings of Lord Shri Ram and Hanuman Ji on this auspicious day of Hanuman Janmotsav, many people organize the Ramayana Akhanda Paath. On this day, performing the Sundar Kaand Path is also seen as commendable. Bhandaras, or food stalls, are set up to provide food for the underprivileged and in need.

On this day, Hanuman Ji's idol is decked up in jewelry, flowers, new clothing, and golden and silver vark. Those involved in sports, strength training, wrestling, and martial arts view Bajrangbali as their Guru, who gives them the strength and power to battle anyone. They offer special prayers to Hanuman Ji to obtain blessings.

On this auspicious day, people engage in various religious and spiritual practices to obtain Pawan Putra Hanuman's blessings. They may recite the 108 Hanuman Chalisa and participate in kirtan and bhajan.

Spiritual practices you can perform on Hanuman Janmotsava include applying Sindoor to the Hanuman idol and then touching it to your forehead, giving bananas or jaggery to monkeys (thought to be Hanuman's earthly manifestation), and spending the day in silence and celibacy.

To receive power and protection, focus on Hanuman's picture or listen to his Bhajans. On this holy day, may Lord Hanuman provide you unwavering devotion, great power, and spiritual wisdom!

To perform puja on Hanuman Jayanti, get up early, ideally before dawn, on Brahma Muhurta. Clean your house altar or puja area, wear clean or traditional clothing, and take a holy bath. Place an idol or portrait of Lord Hanuman, light a diya (light), and present sticks of incense. Invoke the idol by chanting mantras, reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and Sundar Kand. Some people observe a fast on this auspicious day and break it in the evening by having sattvik food. Complete the puja by chanting the aarti - "Aarti Ki Jai Hanuman Lala Ki."

Happy Hanuman Jayanti 2025! May this festival bring peace, prosperity, and the blessings of Lord Hanuman into your life.
