The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is poised to announce the results for the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations this week, with expectations leaning towards a release around May 10, 2025. This year, a staggering 42 lakh students participated in the examinations, which took place between February 15 and April 4, 2025.
According to the latest updates, approximately 24.12 lakh students appeared for the Class 10 exams across 84 subjects, while around 17.88 lakh candidates sat for the Class 12 exams in 120 subjects. The board has yet to officially confirm the date and time of the results announcement, but it is anticipated that students will be able to check their scores on CBSE's official website, cbse.gov.in, as well as through results.cbse.nic.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and the DigiLocker app.
In previous years, the CBSE has typically released results in mid-May. For instance, last year, results were declared on May 13, 2024, and on May 12 in 2023. In 2022, the results were announced on July 22, while the pandemic years of 2021 and 2020 saw announcements on August 3 and July 13, respectively. This pattern suggests that students should remain vigilant for updates, as the results may be released without prior notice to manage website traffic and prevent server overloads.
To access their results, students will need to provide specific login credentials, including their roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth. Once the results are announced, they can also be checked via SMS and through the UMANG app. For those who may face issues accessing the official websites, the DigiLocker platform is also available for obtaining digital mark sheets.
In terms of passing criteria, students must score at least 33 percent in both theory and practical examinations. If a student falls short by one or two marks, grace marks may be awarded. This year, the board has also revised its grievance redressal procedures to enhance transparency, allowing students to request a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheets before applying for mark verification or re-evaluation. This marks a significant change aimed at ensuring fairness in the evaluation process.
Looking back at the performance statistics, the pass percentages for Class 10 in 2024 stood at 93.60%, while Class 12 recorded a pass rate of 87.98%. These figures reflect slight improvements from previous years, with Class 10 results of 93.12% in 2023 and Class 12 at 87.33%. Notably, the years 2021 saw record highs with pass percentages of 99.04% for Class 10 and 99.37% for Class 12, largely attributed to the unique evaluation methods adopted during the pandemic.
Students who do not meet the passing criteria have the option to appear for compartment examinations later in the year. Details regarding the compartment exams will be shared following the announcement of the main results.
As the announcement date approaches, students and parents are advised to stay updated through official channels and to avoid falling for misinformation that may circulate on social media. The CBSE has urged students to rely solely on verified sources for the most accurate information regarding result dates and procedures.
In conclusion, the anticipation surrounding the CBSE Class 10 and 12 results is palpable, with over 42 lakh students eagerly awaiting their scores. As the CBSE prepares for the announcement, it is essential for students to remain informed and ready to check their results promptly once they are made available.
