Catherine Tyldesley Keeps Door Open For Coronation Street Return

The actress expresses fond memories of her time on the soap and shares insights on motherhood and new projects.

Catherine Tyldesley, the beloved actress known for her role as Eva Price on Coronation Street, has sparked interest among fans with her recent comments about potentially returning to the iconic ITV soap. During her chat with Prima magazine, Tyldesley indicated she has not ruled out the possibility, stating, "never say never." Tyldesley graced the Coronation Street set for seven years before leaving, with her final scenes airing back in August 2018.

Reflecting on her time on the show, Tyldesley expressed, "

" Tyldesley’s affection for her character and the storyline makes it clear why the thought of returning is appealing. The actress, now 41, revealed her willingness to return under the right circumstances: "

Coronation Street feels like forever ago, but I always look back with such great fondness. They've asked me to go back a couple of times over the years, and it just so happened I was busy with other projects.

But if they approached me with an amazing storyline and the time was right, of course, I'd go back. So it's always a case of never say never.

"

Since her departure, Tyldesley has embarked on new projects, the latest being Channel 5's The Good Ship Murder, where she reunites with her former Coronation Street co-star Shayne Ward. This crime drama features Tyldesley as First Officer Kate Woods, paired with Ward, who plays Jack Grayling, a cabaret singer-turned-detective. Their on-screen chemistry shines, and Tyldesley humorously remarked, "

We're like the naughty kids at school who shouldn't be sat together! It makes life so much easier because we've gotthat relationship, which gives us good chemistry.
"

The second series of The Good Ship Murder is kicking off following its Christmas special, and Tyldesley mentioned how their shared experiences as new parents helped them bond. "

And he kept me sane during season one, because I'd just had a baby, and his other half had also just had a baby, and so we kind of propped each other up emotionally. He's seen me cry a million times. So I thought, 'It's fine, I can be a hormonal mess around Shayne.'
"

Tyldesley, who is now the mother of two young children, also opened up about her struggles with body image after becoming a parent. "

I found it very difficult after my second child. I hate the words 'spring back' because you've achieved something so amazing.
" She candidly shared the challenges she faced during pregnancy, including hyperemesis and insomnia, acknowledging the toll it took on her mental health.

The actress added, "

But I'll be honest: I didn't feel like myself. I felt unfit, I felt weak, I felt vulnerable.
" Tyldesley’s honesty about her experiences resonates with many women facing similar challenges.

Longtime fans of Tyldesley may recall her participation on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2019, showcasing her versatility as both an actress and performer. She has also made appearances on other shows like the BBC sitcom Scarborough. With her impressive track record, it’s clear Tyldesley has successfully navigated life after Coronation Street, which continues to captivate audiences.

Tyldesley's open mindset about returning to Coronation Street reflects her enduring connection with the series, and as she embraces new challenges, fans can’t help but wonder what the future holds for the actress.
