Local events and community activities are buzzing through the small, vibrant town of Castelculier and its nearby areas, offering residents plenty of opportunities to get involved and connect with one another.
One recent highlight was the completion of the BAFA (Brevet d’Aptitude aux Fonctions d’Animateurs) training session organized by the SIVS of the Pays de Cadours, alongside Francas. This general training session took place in the recently renovated town hall of Cadours, which provided spacious areas ideal for group activities. Throughout the training, held over eight intensive days, thirteen participants learned about regulation, child development, responsibility, inclusion, and safety, coupled with practical activities such as singing, crafts, sports, and expression. Importantly, seven young people benefitted from financial assistance amounting to 200 euros, aimed at acknowledging their engagement and enhancing youth involvement within the community.
Meanwhile, at the D’Artagnan association based in Lupiac, significant elections were held during its general assembly attended by co-presidents Lucas Aklil and François Mangenot. The association, which boasts 300 members, focuses on developing the commune through various activities related to D’Artagnan's character and legacy. The recently concluded festival themed “D’Artagnan and Cyrano, Two Cadets of Gascony” attracted 3,100 visitors, showcasing the community's thriving spirit even through the intense heat. Exciting activities included theatrical performances by local groups, workshops, and enlightening conferences on Lupiac’s history.
On January 3rd, the municipal library reopened its doors after the holiday season, welcoming residents back to explore its extensive services. Registration remains free and open to everyone. Residents can enjoy free Wi-Fi, photocopying, and the community-driven 'boitatroc,' where items such as books, CDs, and games can be exchanged without the need for membership.
The mayor of Castelculier, Olivier Grima, along with the municipal council, is gearing up for the annual wishes ceremony to be held on January 12th at the town hall. The event will offer residents a retrospective of the past year and present upcoming projects. Residents are reminded of the new opening hours for the town hall, effective January 2nd, which include morning and afternoon hours on different weekdays for their convenience.
The charming town also hosts the 'Bébé Lecteur' workshop, aimed at nurturing early literacy among children from 0 to 3 years old. This delightful session occurs every Thursday morning at the municipal library, providing free, engaging learning experiences for toddlers and their caregivers.
Overall, the diverse activities and opportunities for community engagement within Castelculier and the surrounding areas reflect the town's commitment to fostering connection and providing valuable resources to all residents. With events and services catering to various interests, it’s an exciting time to be part of this tight-knit community.
