Scheduled to take place from February 26 until March 4, this year's carnival promises to draw thousands of locals and tourists alike to Plaza 28 de Julio, the official venue.

Mayor Estefanía Mercado extended her invitation to residents and neighboring cities, stating, "I want to invite everyone from Playa del Carmen and neighboring cities to participate in these festivities, primarily aimed at our youth and families, also considering our tourists." Mercado elaborated on the carnival's purpose to invigorate the local economy across various sectors, including commerce, restaurants, and hospitality services.

According to the official program, the dazzling lights of the carnival will shine bright starting February 26, at the official inauguration and coronation ceremony scheduled for 7:30 PM. The first evening of activities will commence at 7 PM, featuring performances from the Ballet del Comité de Carnaval 2025 and the farewell for the 2024 Carnival Kings. Following them, the newly crowned kings will showcase their performances, along with live music by Banda The Summer and EnsamBless.

The festivities continue on February 27, beginning again at 7 PM with various dance groups including the DIF, Alebrijes, Infantil, and Uaqroo. Artistic performances will highlight talents from Larissa Casas and Play Play Records, culminating at 10:30 PM with Grammy-winner duo Jesse & Joy taking the stage.

The carnival parade will officially commence on February 28 at 5:30 PM, featuring colorful floats and participating dance troupes parading along Quinta Avenida, Avenida Constituyentes, and Avenida 30, ending back at Plaza 28 de Julio. Musical performances on this night will also include Juvan and The Heart Makerz, with the main show featuring performances by El Bogueto, Charly Gynn, Supa G, and Gilharry 7 Band.

The celebration's ambiance will maintain its high energy as March starts with another parade at 5:30 PM, with various artistic presentations. Each day promises exciting entertainment, with standout performances lined up, including Rawayana on March 1 and Bomba Estéreo on March 2.

Importantly, authorities have implemented measures for Carnaval 2025 to prioritize safety. Raúl Tassinari, Secretary of Public Security of Solidaridad, announced a strict prohibition on the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads to maintain the event's family-friendly atmosphere. “The priority is to guarantee a family-friendly and safe environment,” Tassinari emphasized, indicating plans for rigorous access filters across event areas to prevent alcohol and substance entry.

"We are working on logistics to minimize inconveniences for attendees but maximize their safety,” he added. Tassinari reminded attendees to stay updated on mobility restrictions via official communication channels, listed on the municipal government's website.

Among the recent highlights, was the excitement from the selection event on February 24, where candidates for carnival royalty showcased their talents and flair, leading to the coronation of Metzli Monterroza and Joel González as main sovereigns, along with other talented youth and child representatives.

With each event aimed at fostering local culture and entertainment, the Carnaval de Playa del Carmen remains one of the region's most anticipated celebrations, drawing worldwide attention. This year promises not only artistic showcases but also includes traditional food and vibrant community activities. Mayor Mercado highlighted the importance of this carnival: "This lineup will bring entertainment for locals and visitors alike, contributing significantly to our city's economy and creating unforgettable experiences."
