The Cabourg Rétro Show makes its much-anticipated return this weekend, Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, 2025, in the picturesque town of Cabourg, Calvados. This year marks the 15th edition of the event, which celebrates classic and prestigious automobiles, rekindling fond memories from previous gatherings.
Organized by a new team, the event promises an exciting lineup of activities and exhibitions that cater to car enthusiasts and families alike. The festivities kick off on Saturday with a traditional tourist rally taking place in the beautiful Pays d’Auge region. The rally will begin at the parking lot facing the sea in Merville-Franceville-Plage, concluding at the Garden tennis in Cabourg. An impressive 90 vehicles are expected to participate, showcasing a diverse array of vintage cars.
The rally prize-giving ceremony is set for Sunday, May 11, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, where participants will be recognized for their efforts and achievements. The excitement continues on Sunday, as the Rétro Show transforms the town center and seafront into a vibrant celebration of automotive history.
On this day, a remarkable 300 vintage and prestigious vehicles will be on display throughout the streets and avenues of Cabourg, as well as along the iconic Marcel Proust promenade. Attendees will have the chance to admire a wide variety of classic cars, from rare models to beloved favorites, all showcasing the rich heritage of automotive design.
Among the standout vehicles is a 1957 English taxi, which has captured the hearts of many. This classic model, which served its purpose across the Channel for about two decades, will be presented by passionate car enthusiasts Olivier Paz and Claude Girault. "This car has immediate appeal!" Girault exclaimed, expressing his admiration for the vehicle's rare condition. "There are maybe ten like it in France." The duo has worked tirelessly for a year to restore the taxi to its former glory, and they are excited to showcase it for the first time at the Cabourg Rétro Show.
"I’ve always loved cars, and I have a particular interest in old English cars," Girault shared with a smile, revealing a personal connection to the vehicle. Both he and Paz were born in 1957, the same year the taxi was manufactured, adding a sentimental touch to their presentation.
Attendees can also look forward to a bustling marketplace within a designated village set up in the gardens of the town hall. Numerous vendors will offer a variety of products, including spare parts, miniature models, and artistic works, all related to automobiles and motor vehicles.
