Burghausen is gearing up for some exciting community activities, ranging from the beloved Kinderfasching event to the first-ever public auction of found bicycles. Unfortunately, residents will have to mark the cancellation of one of the most cherished festivities, Kinderfasching, this year due to unforeseen resource limitations.
With the promise of fun and celebration, the Kolpingsfamilie Burghausen has hosted Kinderfasching for over two decades, inviting children aged 5 to 12 to revel in the joyous celebration at the Pfarrzentrum St. Konrad. This year, the event planned for Rosenmontag was unexpectedly called off. “Leider müssen wir in diesem Jahr den Kinderfasching aufgrund von fehlenden Ressourcen kurzfristig absagen,” says Dr. Claus-Rüdiger Heikenwälder, the first chairman of Kolpingsfamilie, otherwise known for his captivating presence during the festivities.
Despite the disappointment surrounding the cancellation, there's still some good news for the kids. On Rosenmontag, March 3, 2025, at 1:33 PM, the planned distribution of popcorn will still take place. Children attending will be able to grab their fill of popcorn just outside the Pfarrzentrum St. Konrad, ensuring they don't entirely miss out on the festive atmosphere.
Meanwhile, another significant event is on the horizon—a public auction of found bicycles organized by the city which will occur on February 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The auction, taking place at Messehalle, Berchtesgadener Str. 4, will allow participants to bid on unclaimed bicycles—something new for Burghausen. Mayor Florian Schneider emphasizes, “Es ist nur Barzahlung möglich!” highlighting the policy of cash-only transactions during the auction, and reminds potential bidders to park properly to reach the auction site easily.
The city is encouraging individuals who believe they have claims to any of the found bicycles to register their rights with the local authorities at the Fundamt no later than one week before the auction. This step ensures everyone has the opportunity to reclaim lost property before it goes under the hammer.
The Kinderfasching is well-loved, attracting numerous families every year, with vibrant costumes, entertainment, and of course, snacks. The cancellation of this year’s event has certainly left many feeling disappointed, but Kolpingsfamilie assures residents the celebration will return next year, bringing back the fun, laughter, and community spirit beloved by all.
Despite the hitch, Burghausen remains dynamic, showcasing community involvement and engagement through events like the upcoming bicycle auction. It stands as a reminder of the city's commitment to fostering community connections and continuing long-standing traditions, even if they sometimes experience interruptions.
So, whether it’s sampling popcorn or bidding for bikes, Burghausen continues to thrive as a hub for local events—and there’s always next year to look forward to for the Kinderfasching.
