Breda Police Investigate Kidnapping Of 24-Year-Old Man Near Sports Complex
Police are actively investigating the kidnapping of a 24-year-old man who was taken late Friday night from a parking lot adjacent to the athletic association Sprint in Breda. The alarming incident occurred around midnight when multiple armed individuals, dressed in black clothing with masks, forcibly abducted the victim.
The incident took place at the Dr. Schaepmanlaan parking area, located between the athletic club and a hockey club. According to police reports, the kidnappers, described as highly dangerous due to their possession of firearms, took the man away in an unidentified van, and it remains unclear which direction they headed. This has left local authorities and the victim's family deeply concerned.
"The family makes serious concerns. We are, of course, in contact with them," said the police spokesperson to Hart van Nederland. He added, "We are making serious concerns as well, because this man is so dependent on medication. Not receiving this medication can lead to life-threatening situations." The police highlighted the urgency of the matter, especially since the victim requires specific medications to maintain his health, which when not taken could result in dire consequences.
Witnesses of the kidnapping are being urged to come forward. Police have indicated they are receiving "tips abundantly" from the community. A spokesperson noted, "All information about the van and individuals involved is highly desired. People are encouraged to contact us immediately with any insights." At present, there have been no arrests connected to the case.
Following the incident, the police swiftly initiated their investigation and were actively gathering evidence throughout the morning hours. A reporter on-site at around 8:15 AM indicated the investigative efforts were nearing their final phases, yet the police remained cautious, stating the situation was still developing.
Importantly, local clubs involved have attempted to assuage fears among residents and members. The athletic club Sprint announced on its website, "The incident happened on the public parking lot, which aligns with our schedules and safety protocols. Although the area was temporarily closed, our training sessions can continue safely and without risk."
Likewise, the hockey club, which is also located near the site, reassured its members, stating, "This incident has no relationship with our club, and there is no cause for alarm. Our scheduled activities, including tonight's celebration, will proceed as planned."
With the investigation still active, police are appealing for additional information from the public. They urged anyone with urgent leads to call emergency services at 112, and for any other tips, they can be reached at 0900-8844, to prevent overwhelming the command center. The response from the community has been encouraging, with many rallying to support the family and provide potential leads, as authorities work tirelessly to locate the missing man.
This distressing event has shaken the local community, igniting fears and raising awareness of the need for vigilance on public safety. More details will follow as police continue their inquiries and the search for the victim persists.
