Brazilian football clubs are currently active as the transfer window remains open, with significant interest shaping player movements across the nation. Palmeiras is reportedly aiming to sign Lucas Evangelista from Red Bull Bragantino, following hiccups in their pursuit of another target.
According to sports journalist André Hernan, the Alviverde Paulista has shifted its focus to Evangelista after negotiations for Vitor Roque ran aground. The Red Bull Bragantino, recognizing the player's value, is reportedly requesting €8 million (approximately R$48 million) for his transfer. "Lucas is a reference both on and off the field and is highly valued at the club," revealed Hernan, prompting significant interest from Palmeiras.
Palmeiras is also gearing up for the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista, emphasizing their season ambitions as they prepare to face São Bernardo. The team has accumulated 22 points from 36 possible, reflecting their competitive edge throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, Grêmio is making strides to finalize the permanent acquisition of Juninho Capixaba, currently with Corinthians on loan, as his contract expires this May. After assessing the player’s promising performances, particularly notable for scoring during the Campeonato Gaúcho, the management feels reassured enough to proceed without the immediate need for another acquisition.
Reportedly, the club's option to buy has been set at R$6 million, enabling them to secure Capixaba’s services for four additional years should they opt to activate the clause. A recent meeting held in São Paulo involved discussions between Grêmio’s vice president Duda Kroeff and Corinthians’ director, hinting at positive future outcomes for this potential transfer. "The Grêmio management only depends on Corinthians if they wish to negotiate the transfer fee," noted one source.
On the other hand, the future of Marlon at Cruzeiro appears uncertain. The 27-year-old left-back has received two proposals for his transfer and is expected to make a decision soon as the current transfer window closes on the 28th. If he opts to remain with Cruzeiro, he might face competition, as he's projected to lose his spot to young talent Kaiki.
Marlon’s departure is viewed as inevitable by his representatives, particularly following recent fan protests which could influence the player's standing with the club. Indeed, it was reported by Cruzeiro Sports on January 24th, noting RB Bragantino’s interest once again sparked following previous attempts to secure Marlon’s transfer.
Previously, RB Bragantino proposed to exchange Capixaba for both Marlon and 50% of Japa's rights but faced rejection from Cruzeiro back then. So far, Marlon has had 98 appearances with Cruzeiro, scoring four goals and assisting seven during his tenure. His connection with Cruzeiro has been fraught with ups and downs, especially after facing backlash for underwhelming performances last season.
While clubs are focusing on bolstering their line-ups, each player's performance and fit within these teams continue to play a pivotal role in negotiations and future strategies. The actions of clubs like Palmeiras, Grêmio, and Cruzeiro remain indicative of broader trends within Brazilian football’s competitive environment as they navigate through this transfer window.
