Windsor, Ontario - February 2025 has brought with it the sorrow of loss for many families within the Windsor area, as tributes pour out for two beloved community members who have passed away: Glenys Rawle and Mrs. Nelda (Nan) Louisa Brinston McIntosh. Both women are remembered fondly by family and friends, leaving behind legacies of love, kindness, and vibrant family connections.
Glenys Rawle, who peacefully passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 91, was celebrated not just as a figure of her family but also as a light within the community. Predeceased by her husband Ralph in 2007, Glenys was the loving mother to Alyson Rawle, Frances De Dona, Julian Rawle, and Victoria Thompson. Cherished by her grandchildren, Amanda, Chelsey, Corey, Erica, Grant, Reid, and Thalia, she was also adored as Great Nana to Ary, Lily, Violet, and Poppy. Her family cherished her more than words can say, and Glenys will also be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews across the pond in the United Kingdom.
Glenys, fondly remembered as "The Cafeteria Lady" during her lengthy career with Beaver Foods, was widely appreciated for her kindness and infectious smile. She had many talents, including music and the arts, but perhaps the greatest love of her life was tending to her beautiful garden, where her passion for nature blossomed. Those who frequented her home knew of her love for both wildlife and the company of friends and family. A family statement emphasized their gratitude for the compassionate care provided at Richmond Terrace and requested any donations to Erie Wildlife Rescue, honoring her passion for nature.
The memorial visitation for Glenys Rawle will take place on March 1, 2025, from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life service at noon at Families First, located on Dougall Avenue. Family and friends are invited to share memories, photos, or contribute to Glenys’ legacy through donations.
Meanwhile, just weeks earlier, on January 28, 2025, Mrs. Nelda (Nan) Louisa Brinston McIntosh left this world at the age of 82. Her death, surrounded by loving family members, marked the end of her remarkable life filled with love and warmth. Welcomed on the other side by her parents, Almon and Mina (née Holmes) McIntosh, Nan leaves behind her husband Ronald (Ron) Brinston, with whom she shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. She was also the proud mother of two daughters, Andréa Brinston and Natalie Brinston, and grandmother to six grandchildren: Hudson, Cydnee, Ryley, Brinlee, Greyson, and Maverick.
Those who knew Nan often reminisced about her sense of humor and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her spirit will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. The family appreciates all the kindness shown during this time and acknowledges the compassionate care provided by the Hospice of Windsor. They welcome any donations in memory of Nan to both the Hospice and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Both of these women embodied the strength of family and community ties, reminding us all of the importance of cherishing our loved ones and celebrating their lives. Their legacies will continue to inspire not just their families but the countless individuals who were fortunate enough to know them.
