Assegno Unico Payments Set To Begin Again May 20

Families must update documentation to ensure correct payments and avoid delays this month.

The Assegno Unico for dependent children will return to current accounts starting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at least for those who have not made any changes since last month. For families that have updated their ISEE, changed the composition of their family unit, or have just applied, the payment will still arrive by the end of the month, albeit with a slight delay.

According to INPS, the payment of the Assegno Unico is scheduled to start on May 20, aligning with previous months. Beneficiaries who have not changed their economic situation will receive the payment around this date, approximately five days later than expected in prior months. This timeframe also applies to families that have communicated significant changes, such as the birth of a child or updates to their income declaration.

For those who submitted applications in recent weeks, the payment of the Assegno Unico will not occur before the end of the month following the request. In essence, new applicants for the allowance, who have submitted their applications for the first time, will receive their payments during the last week of May 2025.

It is crucial for families to pay attention to the amount they will receive, as discrepancies may arise depending on the ISEE (Indicatore della Situazione Economica Equivalente), which needs to be updated soon. The deadline for renewing the ISEE declaration was February 28, 2025, and families that did not submit the new documentation by this date have been receiving the minimum amount of the bonus, which is 57.5 euros since March 2025.

Families wishing to restore the correct amount must update the Single Declaration by June 30, 2025. This step is vital to recover any unpaid differences from previous months. The process can be completed online through the INPS portal using SPID, CIE, or CNS, or by visiting a tax assistance center. The ISEE portal also allows families to use a pre-filled version of the DSU, with financial and income data already included for confirmation or modification before submission.

The Assegno Unico e Universale, which has been in effect since March 2022, consolidates various measures to support families with children into a single benefit. The monthly contribution is due for each child starting from the seventh month of pregnancy and up to the age of 21, provided that the young person is following a training course, undertaking a limited-income internship, registered with employment services, or participating in civil service. For children with disabilities, there are no age limits.

As of May 2025, there are updated amounts for the Assegno Unico based on the new ISEE values. The amount per minor child has increased from 199.40 euros to 201 euros. For children aged 18 to 20 years, the amount has risen from 96.90 euros to 97.70 euros. Children with disabilities will now receive approximately 120.60 euros, up from 119.60 euros. Additionally, the amount for the second income earner has increased from 34.10 euros to 34.40 euros.

From January 2025, the amounts and ISEE thresholds were adjusted to account for inflation, with a 0.8% increase. Some families are eligible for a 50% increase: those with children under one year of age receive this increment until the child's first birthday, and families with at least three children aged between one and three years will also see a 50% increase in their allowance, provided their ISEE is within the specified limits. For large families with at least four children, an additional fixed increase of 150 euros per month is available.

It is important to note that the temporary increase for families with an ISEE of up to 25,000 euros, which was introduced to compensate for the loss of the Family Nucleus Allowance (ANF), has been suspended since March 2025.

In summary, the Assegno Unico continues to provide vital financial support to families, with updated amounts reflecting economic conditions and family needs. Families are encouraged to ensure their documentation is current to maximize their benefits and avoid delays in payments.
