Residents of Salvador and Feira de Santana now have the convenience of ordering groceries online with the launch of the Assaí and iFood partnership, which allows customers to shop directly through the iFood app for home delivery. This initiative kicked off in November 2024 and marks the first stage of Assaí's significant expansion within the Bahia region.
The partnership includes select Assaí stores located at Vasco da Gama, Paralela, Rótula, and Feira de Santana Tomba. Customers can now place orders from neighborhoods such as Federação, Garcia, Acupe de Brotas, Imbuí, Boca do Rio, Cabula, Pernambués, and Vila Laura, all within Salvador, as well as Jomafa, 35BI, Brasília, and Feira VII, situated in Feira de Santana.
This new service is part of Assaí's broader national strategy, which has successfully tripled the number of its stores available on the iFood platform. A total of 46 units now provide online shopping capabilities across various cities, including major urban centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, João Pessoa, Recife, Brasília, and Fortaleza.
Fábio Santos, Regional Director of Assaí, emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing customer experience. "We aim to simplify our customers' daily routines by offering another purchasing option within the digital space, without compromising our promise of affordable prices," he stated. He acknowledged diverse customer preferences, noting, "Some prefer face-to-face service, whereas others value the convenience of delivery. With iFood, we’re able to cater to all these profiles more effectively."
For many, this collaboration between Assaí and iFood introduces not just convenience but also the quality and value the Assaí brand is known for, offering products at prices approximately 10% lower than those found at traditional retail outlets. This appeal extends to both families and small business owners, consistently positioning Assaí as the go-to option for economical and practical grocery shopping.
The partnership commenced as a pilot program in early 2024 with just 15 stores. Given the favorable reception, expansion swiftly followed. Assaí plans to increase the service to include at least 10 more locations by the end of the first quarter of this year, with future growth anticipated based on demand assessments across various state markets.
Assaí operates over 300 stores nationwide and is increasingly focusing on both digital and physical retail strategies, particularly targeting densely populated areas. This new alliance with iFood solidifies Assaí's place as a complete solution for shopping needs.
