Amanda Holden Breaks Rules With Golden Buzzer Moment On Britain’s Got Talent

In a dramatic turn of events during the final round of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent, judge Amanda Holden found herself in a sticky situation after breaking the rules to give a hopeful singer a chance at stardom.

During the latest episode of the popular ITV series, an audience member named Max Fox seized an unexpected opportunity to audition, directly addressing head judge Simon Cowell from the stands. "19 years I've tried to get in front of you, and I've never had that chance. Can you give me one opportunity? I can show you what I've got," he pleaded.

Initially, Simon was unsure whether Max's request was genuine. However, after confirming Max's sincerity, he invited him to the stage, although he wondered if it was a 'wind up'. The panel of judges, including KSI, were taken aback, with KSI admitting, "I've never seen this before!"

Max's spontaneous plea seemed to catch the production team off guard, as they were overheard instructing the judges about the need to verify Max's identity and prepare a track for him. The excitement in the air was palpable as Max took to the stage, sharing his long-held dream to perform for Simon Cowell.

"I've been in Manchester in the football stadiums where you hold your big auditions and I've never been able to! Luckily, I was 10ft away from you sat here, I don't know how I managed to get that seat and I just thought it was worth a chance to ask you," he explained.

After reiterating that this was not a setup, Max launched into a heartfelt rendition of Frank Sinatra's classic, "My Way." The audience erupted in applause, cheering for him to receive the Golden Buzzer. Simon remarked, "No one is going to believe this wasn't set up! It was actually very emotional."

In a moment of excitement, Amanda Holden pressed the Golden Buzzer, despite already having used hers earlier in the auditions. Overwhelmed by the moment, she repeatedly apologized, saying, "Sorry, sorry, sorry!" She then embraced Max, who was visibly overjoyed, exclaiming, "I just can't believe it! It's the greatest day of my life."

Amanda later admitted, "I'm just going to say, I've already pressed my golden buzzer, so I'm in a lot of trouble because that's my second golden buzzer!"

The competition is set to heat up next weekend with the beginning of the live semi-finals, which will feature a new format this year. Instead of the usual week-long semi-finals, the shows will be spread over five weeks, starting on April 26, 2025. Entertainment reporter Richard Arnold announced the shake-up on Good Morning Britain, stating, "This year, one judge or Ant and Dec will be allowed to use the golden buzzer in the semi-finals as well. It'll give their chosen act a spot in the grand finale in May."

As the anticipation builds, fans are eager to see how this new format will play out and which acts will shine in the spotlight. Britain’s Got Talent continues to captivate audiences, showcasing the diverse talents of hopefuls from across the nation.
