Aleksandr Buinov Celebrates 75 Years Of Musical Legacy

The iconic Russian artist's journey from rock beginnings to pop stardom continues to inspire fans of all ages.

Aleksandr Buinov, one of Russia's most beloved pop singers, recently celebrated a milestone—his 75th birthday—marking decades of influence in the music industry. From starting in rock to becoming a pop icon, his life is as colorful as his music.

Buinov was born on March 24, 1950, in Moscow to a musically inclined mother, who instilled in him a love for music, and a father who was a combat pilot. He began his musical journey at a young age, attending a music school affiliated with the State Conservatory. His early artistic endeavors were marked by the formation of a school band named "Antikhristy,” through which he learned the ropes of live performance during school dances.

In his teenage years, Buinov met Aleksandr Gradsky, who would later become a celebrated figure in Russian rock. Together, they formed a group called “Skasorokhi” that laid the foundations for Russian rock music. He then served in the missile troops in the Altai Krai, which was a significant turning point, as it led him back to music shortly after his service.

Following his military service, Buinov joined the ensemble “Arax,” and later became a member of the legendary VIA “Veselye Rebyata” from 1973 to 1989, where he achieved widespread popularity. With this group, Buinov recorded numerous hits and traveled abroad for concerts, making a name for himself across the Soviet Union.

In a memorable television appearance, Buinov humorously donned a woman's dress while performing the song “Do Not Worry, Auntie,” showing his ability to blend humor with music. His remarkable versatility paved the way for a flourishing solo career that began in 1989, during which he churned out a slew of chart-topping hits.

In February 1993, Buinov took on the role of artistic director of the Chao ensemble, allowing him to engage more deeply in the creative process. Later, in 1998, he lent his voice to the character of Rasputin in the American animated feature “Anastasia,” which further broadened his artistic portfolio.

Recently, Buinov was in the spotlight again as he celebrated his 75th birthday. Contrary to rumors about health issues, he appeared lively during a guest appearance on Andrey Malakhov's show, singing and dancing joyfully while receiving birthday wishes from fellow stars like Nikolai Baskov and Philip Kirkorov. His grandson, Aleksandr Buinov Jr., made an impressive entrance on the show, capturing attention for his height and style, standing at 180 cm taller than his renowned grandfather.

Alekandr Jr. aims to pursue a career in design, currently studying at MEI, and plans to launch his own clothing line in the future. During the broadcast, the pair performed the song “Pust,” further showcasing their musical lineage.

Despite rumors of health concerns, Buinov's vibrant presence and ability to connect with his audience underscore his enduring relevance in the music scene. As he reaches this significant milestone, Buinov's legacy continues to inspire generations, blending melody with humor and heartfelt lyrics. His contributions to music and the entertainment world remain invaluable, making him a cherished figure in Russian pop culture.
