The initiative was backed by significant funding, with 411 containers purchased through the city’s budget at the cost of 6.2 million rubles, supplemented by 299 additional containers bought from the republican budget at 4.5 million rubles. The aim is to eliminate any shortcomings resulting from the previous operator's absence.
On another note, excited locals can enjoy the newly opened ice rink at the Red Abakan sports ground, which officially began operations just this month. The rink operates daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, offering free entry. Still, visitors are reminded to bring their own skates, as rental services are not available. While the city's advancements are commendable, Abakan faced tragedy with the recent explosion at the Mechanic Engineering Plant, which led to multiple casualties. Governor Valentina Konovalov reported the explosion as resulting from safety violations during gas welding activities conducted by the Corporation Lesmash. Unfortunately, two individuals were confirmed dead at the scene, yet reports also indicated four others sustained serious injuries, with their conditions deemed severe.
According to Deputy Head of Khakassia, Yury Kurlaev, the explosion occurred during the preparation of a water tank. "Workers were preparing a tank for water. Air pressure testing was underway when the explosion happened," Kurlaev stated. This incident has prompted substantial concern over workplace safety regulations and has drawn the attention of the investigative bodies, leading to legal proceedings against those responsible for the negligence.
