23-Hour Trenord Strike Set For February 5, 2025

Commuters brace for disruption as Orsa Ferrovie union plans major protest affecting train and airport services.

On February 5, 2025, Trenord services will experience significant disruptions due to a strike organized by the union Orsa Ferrovie. This strike will last for 23 hours, starting from 3:00 AM until 2:00 AM on February 6, impacting regional transport and airport connections, particularly those to and from Milan's Malpensa Airport.

According to Trenord’s official statements, the strike is aimed at addressing unresolved issues related to labor regulations and economic recognition within the company. "The company Trenord has been unavailable to find solutions to long-standing unresolved issues...," said representatives from Orsa Ferrovie.

During the strike, passengers should be aware of the limited train services available during the designated guaranteed time frames. Trenord specifies operation of select trains scheduled after 6:00 AM and those departing after 6:00 PM, with arrivals expected before 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, respectively. Outside these hours, trains are expected to face cancellations.

For those traveling to and from Malpensa Airport, there will be replacement buses provided, which will not have intermediate stops. Buses will operate between Milano Cadorna and Malpensa Airport for the Malpensa Express, as well as between Stabio and Malpensa Airport for the S50 service.

Passengers planning to travel during this strike day are urged to check Trenord's website and app for real-time updates and specific schedule changes. Attention to announced information on platforms will also be pivotal.

According to Trenord, if train services are significantly disrupted, passengers have the right to apply for full ticket refunds. This can be facilitated by presenting requests within 30 days following the end of the strike.

Overall, the strike on February 5 is expected to cause widespread inconvenience, particularly for commuters and students reliant on Trenord services. Those affected should prepare for possible delays and consult available resources for the latest travel information.

Feedback from commuters has underscored the necessity for reliable transport options, heightening the urgency of resolving the underlying issues posed by the union. Stakeholders hope for fruitful discussions post-strike, aiming to restore regular service flow and improve overall transportation conditions.
