1 FC Magdeburg Secures €2.15 Million Grant For New Youth Facility

The new functional building will enhance training conditions for young athletes at the club's performance center.

The 1 FC Magdeburg is taking significant strides to elevate its youth training facilities through a new functional building for the HB-Immobilien Nachwuchsleistungszentrum (NLZ), bolstered by substantial support from the local government. On March 19, 2025, Interior Minister Dr. Tamara Zieschang officially presented a grant notification of more than 2.15 million euros, marking one of the largest funding projects of the year for youth sports development.

This milestone is crucial not only for the club but also for aspiring young athletes in the area. This translates to, "The modern functional building will be the centerpiece of the youth performance center of 1 FC Magdeburg. Not only will a space for training and development arise here, but also a place where talents are fostered and inspired to achieve their best."

The planned facility aims to cater to the growing needs of the club's youth program, ensuring an optimal training environment. The two-story building will house eight changing rooms complete with necessary sanitary areas, and various classrooms and training rooms tailored for both physical training and theoretical learning. Furthermore, trainers' offices, physiotherapy rooms, and a space designated for video analysis will also be included.

Emphasizing accessibility, the functional building will be barrier-free, equipped with innovative carbon heating for energy efficiency, and a photovoltaic system featuring battery storage to support energy consumption. These features reflect the club's commitment to sustainability while fostering a conducive environment for football training.

The approval and announcement of the funding highlight an ongoing commitment from the state to invest in sports facilities, aiming to modernize local sports infrastructure. The Ministry of Sports elaborated on this initiative's scope and importance, declaring the new building as one of the largest funding projects this year, thereby underscoring support for youth sports.

1 FC Magdeburg's focus on nurturing young talent is evident and this project is set to play an instrumental role in providing the right infrastructure to nurture future stars. The club's investment in the youth performance center aligns with broader objectives to enhance football development across the region. As the youth program expands, the need for improved facilities has become essential.

The presence of a modern functional building will not only uplift the training conditions for young players but also enhance the operational capabilities of the youth department. Ensuring that young athletes have access to top-notch facilities underpins the club's strategy for long-term success in cultivating talent who will compete at higher levels.

In summary, the new functional building for the HB-Immobilien Nachwuchsleistungszentrum is a transformative project for 1 FC Magdeburg, promising to increase training efficacy and player development while reinforcing the sport's foundation within the local community. The anticipated improvements to training conditions are expected to yield significant benefits for the players and coaches alike, propelling the club and its young talents toward future achievements.
