Zeekr Reveals World’s Fastest Charging EV With New Battery Technology

Innovative Golden Battery enables ultra-fast charging time and increased vehicle performance

Zeekr, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently made waves by announcing its groundbreaking breakthrough battery technology, which promises ultra-fast charging capabilities.

During the Evolution New Generation press conference held on August 13, 2024, Zeekr unveiled the highly anticipated 2025 model year version of its Zeekr 007 sedan, debuting with the second-generation Golden Battery.

This battery technology is claimed to be the fastest charging battery currently available, with the capability to charge from 10% to 80% capacity in just 10.5 minutes.

Zeekr's new battery, known for its remarkable 5.5C charging speed, has jumped from its predecessor's maximum of 4.5C, making it even more suitable for rapid-powered needs.

With its new offerings, Zeekr aims to change the game for electric vehicles (EVs), alleviating long-standing consumer concerns about battery range and the ease of charging.

Previous models of the Zeekr 007 included two battery options: the 75 kWh Golden Battery and the 100 kWh CATL Qilin battery, but the 2025 versions will introduce improvements and faster acceleration options.

Zeekr's Golden Battery is notable for its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, similar to BYD's Blade Battery technology, differentiates the battery pack and enhances its durability and performance.

According to the company, the Golden Brick Battery can withstand extreme conditions, including enduring temperatures of up to 1000°C during safety tests.

The announcement indicates Zeekr's strategic decision to cater to consumer needs, with 66% of current Zeekr 007 buyers opting for vehicles equipped with the new Golden Battery.

Not just limited to battery technology, the 2025 Zeekr 007 also boasts enhanced acceleration capabilities, with rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants seeing time reductions to reach 0 to 100 km/h more rapidly.

The four-wheel-drive performance version of the Zeekr 007 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.84 seconds, maintaining its position as one of the fastest accelerating mid-level electric vehicles.

Such enhancements are orchestrated through sophisticated over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring existing car owners can enjoy these improvements, keeping the vehicles relevant over time.

Addressing tech features, the new performance includes the Haohan intelligent driving 2.0 system, which integrates advanced lidar and visual fusion technology powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips.

This smart driving system is able to navigate complex intersections with over 95% accuracy and introduces over 1000 new traffic scenarios, showcasing Zeekr's commitment to innovation.

The Zeekr 007's AI-driven operating system also allows its various features to be accessed and controlled via voice commands, enhancing user-friendliness and interactivity.

From aesthetically pleasing updates such as new wheel designs and color options to substantial technological upgrades, the 2025 models accommodate both performance and style.

For consumers who are particularly focused on user experience, Zeekr's enhanced intelligent driving capabilities and adaptive features mark significant progress for the automotive industry.

Comparatively, Zeekr's new battery technology is notable against competitors like Tesla, whose Model 3 allows for 48% of its total range to be charged within the same time frame of 15 minutes.

Zeekr's ultra-fast charging stations, of which over 500 have already opened across China, will facilitate wider access and quick recharges for its patient buyers.

The company's impressive sales statistics also contribute to its optimistic outlook moving forward, as it delivered record numbers of EVs earlier this year, leading to high expectations for the model's rollout.

With aspirations to double its charging station infrastructure to more than 10,000 by 2026, Zeekr is positioning itself for aggressive competition against other EV manufacturers.

This innovative approach toward creating rapid charging solutions could very well set the standard for the future of electric transportation.

Zeekr has confirmed it will kickstart deliveries for the new 007 model on August 14, entering the market with the promise of cutting-edge technology.

The car's design aligns with consumer preferences for EVs, providing both performance and practicality, catering to families, professionals, and enthusiasts alike.

Particularly relevant is how Zeekr seeks to boost its market share and sales targets, aiming for 230,000 unit deliveries this year, doubling its figures from 2023.

To meet this ambitious requirement, the company will need to sustain average monthly deliveries of 25,000 vehicles until year-end.

Poised at the forefront of EV innovation, Zeekr is not just participating in the industry; it is actively reshaping how we think about charging and driving electric vehicles.
