Yvonne Catterfeld Embraces New Life In Munich With Family

After relocating from Berlin, the singer discusses her new album and family dynamics.

In a recent interview, the renowned singer Yvonne Catterfeld opened up about her major life changes, detailing her move from Berlin to a suburb of Munich with her new partner and their son, Charlie. As of March 2025, Catterfeld, now 45, reflects on her journey and how these changes have influenced both her personal life and her newest album, aptly titled "Move."

Catterfeld's relationship with Berlin had transformed after spending 24 years in the city, evolving into what she describes as a "love-hate relationship." She elaborated, "Nach 24 Jahren in Berlin wurde aus der Liebe zur Stadt eine Hassliebe" (After 24 years in Berlin, love for the city became a love-hate relationship), revealing her desire for a change amidst the busy and bustling city life.

This desire soon turned into action. Moving to Bavaria, she explained, has been a rewarding experience for her family. "Das war es wirklich wert" (It was really worth it), she remarked, emphasizing her newfound contentment in her new surroundings. Catterfeld, her son Charlie, and her partner Adam von Mack relocated during the summer of 2024, coinciding perfectly with Charlie's school transitions, thus minimizing disruption.

Upon moving, she has experienced a wealth of natural beauty and recreational opportunities, which she finds especially beneficial for her son. Catterfeld stated, "In puncto Lebensqualität und Freiheit finde ich es super hier, gerade mit Kind hat man unendliche Freizeit- und Sportmöglichkeiten" (In terms of quality of life and freedom, I find it great here, especially as a parent with endless recreational and sports opportunities).

Her new album "Move" reflects this chapter in her life, fostering a double meaning: one of staying active and in motion, and another urging listeners not just to talk about ideas but to act on them. “Der Umzug hat mein Album inspiriert und ihm eine doppeldeutige Bedeutung gegeben. A: Bleib aktiv, in Bewegung. B: Rede nicht nur über Ideen. Move and get it done!” (The move inspired my album and gave it a double meaning. A: Stay active, in motion. B: Don't just talk about ideas. Move and get it done!), she explained.

Transitioning to a new home isn’t always easy, especially for a single parent, but Catterfeld has found a way to manage her responsibilities and enjoy life with her loved ones. With renovations initially occupying much of their time, she is now pleased to be settled in, noting, "Ich liebe es dort" (I love it there).

Catterfeld's ex-partner, actor Oliver Wnuk, who she separated from in December 2021 after a 14-year relationship, also resides in Bavaria, not far from the family. Their amicable co-parenting has provided stability for their son Charlie. Yvonne discussed their post-separation relationship, sharing, "Patchwork kann eine Bereicherung sein, wenn alle den Blick auf das Kind richten" (Blended families can be a blessing when everyone focuses on the child).

Despite the challenges of significant life changes, Yvonne Catterfeld embraces her new normal. Her son Charlie has developed a close bond with Adam, her new partner, who has quickly become a part of their family. "Mein Sohn mochte ihn von Anfang an" (My son liked him from the start), she laughs, appreciating the strong connection that has formed.

As they explore their new surroundings, Catterfeld mentions possible camping trips in the future, continuing the spontaneous adventures they’ve shared as a family. "Im Sommer haben wir auch wieder vor, einen Camper zu mieten und mal zu schauen, wo wir landen" (In the summer, we plan to rent a camper again and see where we end up), she stated.

They enjoy each other's company and lean on the humor that surrounds them; reflecting her upbringing, she states, "Mein Vater hatte schon einen schwarzen Humor, mein Partner hat einen guten britischen" (My father had a dark humor, my partner has a good British humor). Catterfeld appreciates the light-hearted environment they foster, saying, "Ich bin dankbar, dass mein Sohn sehr bereichernde Menschen um sich hat und Leichtigkeit lernt" (I am grateful that my son has enriching people around him and learns lightness).

In her new Bavarian life, Yvonne Catterfeld has not only found relaxation but a vibrant balance between her family life and her ongoing career. As a judge on the TV-casting show "The Voice," she continues to pursue her passion while nurturing the bonds with her family. Catterfeld’s journey reflects the strength of starting anew and finding joy in the process, promoting a lifestyle that embraces both personal growth and familial warmth.
