Yokohama FC Renews Contracts Of Five Players

The club strengthens its squad for the 2025 season with key player retainments.

Yokohama FC has officially announced contract renewals for five players as they gear up for the 2025 season, demonstrating their commitment to building on last year's achievements.

The renewed contracts include midfielder Yuri Lara, who was pivotal for the team last season with 37 appearances and five goals. The 30-year-old Brazilian has shown his mettle during his career, featuring for several clubs including EC Bahia and Tochigi SC before joining Yokohama FC.

João Paulo, another Brazilian forward, has also been retained. At 28 years old, he made 14 appearances last season, scoring two goals. His previous stints at clubs like FC São Paulo and Ho Chi Minh City FC provided him with significant experience, which the team hopes to leverage moving forward.

Defender Leo Bahia, who, at 30, hasn't yet made any appearances this season, is another player whose contract has been renewed. His time with clubs like Osasco Audax and Zweigen Kanazawa shapes his defensive skills, which the team will endeavor to utilize effectively.

Michel Lima, aged 27, is also included among the renewed contracts. This forward, who stands tall at 189 cm and weighs 83 kg, brings height and presence to the attack, which has been key during training sessions.

Finally, goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro, the youngest at 25, was also granted contract renewal. Though he didn’t play last season, his experience from Grêmio FBPA and Vissel Kobe provides depth to the squad.

These renewals align with Yokohama FC's objective to strengthen their lineup and push for greater success. By retaining key players, the team looks to build chemistry and cohesion, which will be imperative as they continue to compete.

Yokohama FC's management emphasized the importance of retaining these players, stating, "Continuity is key to our strategy, and these players have been integral to our team dynamics." With the renewal of contracts, the club aims to cement their position and form within the J2 League. The vision for 2025 is not just about competing but creating a formidable team culture, and the retention of these players is seen as foundational.

The upcoming season is anticipated to be one of growth and ambition, and fans can look forward to seeing these players shine. With commitment and effort, Yokohama FC's renewed squad could very well have the tenacity and skill to reach new heights.
