Sido's ordeal began when ISIS launched attacks on her hometown in Iraq, leading to the widespread abduction of Yazidi women and children. Sido was taken from her family during this chaos back in 2014, eventually sold and trafficked to Gaza, where she was held captive by a member of Hamas with ties to ISIS.
After her rescue was announced on October 3, 2024, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and several international agencies took center stage.
