Yanga SC Crushes KenGold FC 6-1 To Lead Premier League

Dominant performance showcased by Prince Dube's brace lifts Yanga to the top of the league standings.

Young Africans (Yanga SC) showcased their dominance in Tanzanian football on Wednesday evening with a resounding 6-1 victory over KenGold FC at the KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam. This impressive win not only underscored Yanga's strength but also propelled them back to the top of the Premier League table with 45 points, reclaiming the lead over rivals Simba SC, who sit at 43 points.

The match kicked off with Yanga SC exhibiting high intensity, immediately putting pressure on KenGold, who adopted a defensive stance. The strategy failed spectacularly for KenGold as the home team took the lead within the first minute, thanks to their star striker Prince Dube. This early goal set the tone for the match and quickly established Yanga's dominance, with the team controlling possession and attacking relentlessly throughout the first half.

Just five minutes after Dube opened the scoring, Clement Mzize doubled Yanga's lead, showcasing his finishing ability after receiving a precise pass from Stephane Aziz Ki. KenGold struggled to contain Yanga's relentless offensive onslaught, and by the 35th minute, it was Pacome Zouzoua's turn to find the net, making it 3-0 with assistance from Dube. While KenGold had fleeting glimpses of opportunity, their only notable chance came when forward Bilali Abdi squandered a clear chance to pull one back.

The first half concluded with Mzize scoring again, sending Yanga to the break with an undeniable 4-0 advantage. KenGold's coach made tactical adjustments at halftime, substituting goalkeeper Castor Mhagama for Mussa Malika, but this change did little to stem Yanga's tide.

Continuing their offensive surge, Dube found the back of the net once more just minutes after the restart, scoring his second goal of the evening and extending the lead to 5-0. The relentless attack culminated with another goal from Duke Abuya, who netted Yanga's sixth goal in the 85th minute. KenGold managed to snag a consolation goal late through Seleman Bwenzi, but it did little to alter the outcome of the match.

This victory not only reflects Yanga SC's current excellence but also extends their unbeaten streak to nine matches, demonstrating their consistency and ambition as the defending champions. The team now looks forward to their upcoming fixture against JKT Tanzania, where another win could see them achieve ten consecutive victories.

Clearly, Yanga SC's performance highlighted their status as the powerhouse of Tanzanian football, with key contributions from standout players like Dube and Mzize proving pivotal. With the team exhibiting such formidable form this season, they aim to continue their successful run as they pursue the league title once again.
