Xiaomi has recently launched two new laptop models alongside its highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone, marking a significant enhancement to its product lineup. The laptops, REDMI Book Pro 14 and Pro 16, were unveiled at a press event held on March 1, 2025, in China, showcasing impressive specifications and competitive pricing.
Both the REDMI Book Pro 14 and Pro 16 are equipped with Intel's second-generation Core Ultra processors, promising advanced performance and efficiency for users. These laptops highlight Xiaomi's commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with aesthetic appeal. The REDMI Book Pro 16 features a sleek aluminum design, measuring 15.9mm thick and weighing 1.88kg, making it portable yet powerful.
The display on the REDMI Book Pro 16 is particularly noteworthy, boasting a 3.1K LCD screen (3072 x 1920 pixels) with a 165Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. This screen has received VESA HDR 400 certification, ensuring high color accuracy with a Delta E value approximately at 0.33. Within its chassis, users can find the option of either the Intel Ultra 5 225H (14-core, 4.9 GHz) or the Ultra 7 255H (16-core, 5.1 GHz) processors, purportedly delivering significant performance improvements over the previous year's models.
Compared to its predecessor, the REDMI Book Pro 16 claims to offer enhanced single-core performance of 21.6% and multi-core performance increase of up to 29.5%. The innovative cooling system, termed "Hurricane Cooling," utilizes dual 12V fans along with three heat pipes, improving the thermal conductivity by 63.4% compared to the prior generation.
The laptop is equipped with LPDDR5X RAM up to 32GB, paired with PCIe 4.0 SSD options starting from 1TB, providing users with several advantageous specs for gaming and productivity. Battery life is another highlight, with the REDMI Book Pro 16 featuring a 99Wh battery, promising up to 30 hours of use. The included USB-C GaN charger, rated at 140W, can bring the laptop up to 54% charged within just 30 minutes. Plus, it supports 120W fast charging for mobile devices.
The REDMI Book Pro 14, on the other hand, echoes the thickness of its counterpart at 15.9mm but is lighter at just 1.45kg, catering to users prioritizing portability. The display is slightly less capable, with its 2.8K screen (2880 x 1800 pixels) but still retains similar brightness of 500 nits and appears VESA HDR 400 certified. Users can choose configurations featuring the Ultra 5 225H or Ultra 7 255H CPUs, alongside RAM options of either 16GB or 32GB.
The performance of the REDMI Book Pro 14 also saw improvements, with single-core performance increasing by 18.5% and multi-core performance by 28.2% over its predecessor. It offers the same storage options, including the 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and additional M.2 slot for expansion.
Battery performance on the REDMI Book Pro 14 is achieved with its 80Wh battery, providing up to 31 hours of usage. Users will appreciate the 100W GaN charger, which can reach 51% charge within 30 minutes, also providing 55W of support for mobile charging.
Both laptops feature the latest Windows 11 (Chinese version) and integrate Xiaomi’s AI PC tool, which enhances computing power to 96 TOPS, improving performance for machine learning models by over 200% and boosting local image processing tasks by more than 120%.
Regarding connectivity, each model includes Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Additional features incorporate Xiaomi's XiaoAI voice assistant, HyperConnect for device sharing, and 1080p camera, with Dolby Vision and Atmos support for enhanced audio and visual experiences.
Pricing for the REDMI Book Pro 14 starts at 5,699 yuan (approximately $830), offering the Ultra 5 configuration with 16GB RAM. For the higher-end Ultra 7 version, prices can reach up to 6,999 yuan (about $1,020). The REDMI Book Pro 16 begins at 6,499 yuan (approximately $940) for the Ultra 5 model, with the Ultra 7 configuration priced at 7,499 yuan (around $1,085).
At present, Xiaomi has not announced any specific plans for global distribution of these laptops. Nonetheless, the company is gearing up for the global launch of the Xiaomi 15 series, highlighting the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone, scheduled for official release on March 2, 2025, which will undoubtedly attract attention from tech enthusiasts worldwide.
