X Faces Major Outages Again As Thousands Report Access Issues

Users struggle to access the rebranded platform following multiple service interruptions this morning.

Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, faced significant service interruptions on Monday, March 10, 2025, leading to widespread frustration among its users. Reports of outages began early in the morning, with tens of thousands affected across the United States and Canada.

The turmoil kicked off around 5:43 AM Eastern Time, as more than 22,000 users reported problems accessing the platform, according to Downdetector, which tracks service interruptions across various sites. This initial spike prompted users to flood social media with complaints about the app and website being unresponsive.

"At 5:43 AM, thousands of users reported similar issues with X, peaking with as many as 22,766 complaints just before 6 AM," reported Forbes on the chaotic morning's events.

While access appeared to recover temporarily shortly after 6:20 AM, the relief was short-lived. Problems reignited around 10 AM, when more than 40,000 individuals reported issues once again. By now, many were trying to engage with the platform as people settled down to their daily routines.

Compounding the woes, X faced its third major outage shortly after 11 AM, with incidents reported surging to nearly 14,000 once again within minutes. Users were frustrated to see the functionality they had regained dissolve abruptly.

"Another outage was reported at around 11 AM, with the number of incident reports surging to nearly 14,000 within minutes," noted Forbes.

This was not the first time X had experienced widespread outages under Musk's ownership; similar issues were reported back as far as August 2024. Users are increasingly concerned about the long-term reliability of the platform, especially following Musk's decision to downsize the workforce significantly after acquiring the platform for $44 billion back in 2022.

On Twitter's transformation to X, Musk aimed to turn the platform from merely social media to what he terms the "everything app." This ambitious vision, introduced with its rebranding effort, invites both excitement and skepticism alike as users grapple with intermittent reliability.

"Users reported more problems with the website shortly after 11 AM; it's frustrating to see the site down so often," shared one disheartened user who relied heavily on the platform for both news and interaction.

Adding to the complexity, Musk had previously mentioned limiting access to posts for unverified users to combat what he described as “extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation.” This move sparked debate among users about the direction of the platform and its usability.

The various issues on March 10 culminate as yet another chapter for X, amid growing questions about how many more outages users can tolerate before they seek alternatives or express their discontent more vocally.

While many tried to access the platform again by 11:30 AM, reports indicated services were still unstable, creating uncertainty about accessibility moving forward. According to reports from USA Today, users were left wondering if the service would fully restore, which could affect regular use patterns.

Despite repeated requests for clarification, neither Musk nor the X team provided immediate responses to media inquiries over the exact causes of the outages. Many speculate the back-end changes and staffing reductions after the platform's relaunch contributed to the encountered issues.

Some loyal users voiced their frustrations on other social media platforms, sharing screenshots of error messages and raising concerns about the reliability of their communications via this preferred channel of exchange.

With the future of X uncertain, the episode on March 10 could reflect wider systemic issues at play within the infrastructure amassed since Musk’s acquisition. Continuous outages could erode user confidence, challenging the brand and its continued relevance as social media evolves.
