WrestleMania 41 Delivers Thrills With Star-Studded Matches

Cody Rhodes defends his title against John Cena as The Rock's status remains uncertain

WrestleMania 41 continues this evening, and WWE chiefs are facing the challenge of living up to the hype from night one. Last year's Showcase of the Immortals broke numerous records and has been lauded by the company as their most successful ever. 'Mania XL boasted the wrestling return of The Rock for his first meaningful match in over a decade. The Great One teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night one, before generating an even bigger highlight reel the following evening. The Rock became involved in an epic angle that involved The Undertaker and John Cena - culminating in the American Nightmare finally prevailing to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship. Rhodes has since held the belt for the rest of 2024 and will hope to headline this year's WrestleMania as the defending champion.

The blockbuster event will also be Cena's final ever Mania appearance before the WWE icon calls time on his 23-year career in December. 16-time world champion Cena stunned wrestling fans around the world in early March by turning heel and will now face Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at 'Mania.

WrestleMania Vegas will again be held across two nights on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. It is taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada, the 65,000-capacity home of NFL team the Las Vegas Raiders. The respective cards will both begin from around 1am in the UK and continue into the early hours of each morning. The action will get going with WWE's kick-off show from midnight in the UK and is available to stream for free on WWE's YouTube channel. The entire event will then be broadcast live on Netflix as part of their historic £4billion 10-year deal. Fans in the UK who already have a Netflix subscription can watch the action live while others can sign up for £4.99 or more.

However, in the States, WWE still has a contract with streaming service Peacock until 2026 - which is where Mania will be shown. talkSPORT.com will also keep you up to date with all the latest build-up and reaction. Randy Orton was set to face Kevin Owens, but 'KO' had to withdraw from the match due to requiring neck surgery. During the WrestleMania 41 night one Countdown show, Bayley was attacked backstage and won't be partnering Lyra Valkyria.

Night 1 (April 19) results include: Jey Uso defeated Gunther for World Heavyweight Championship, The New Day defeated The War Raiders for World Tag Team Championship, Jade Cargill defeated Naomi, Jacob Fatu defeated LA Knight for WWE United States Championship, El Grande Americano defeated Rey Fénix, Tiffany Stratton defeated Charlotte Flair for WWE Women's Championship, Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

The full line-up for night two is as follows: Night 2 (April 20) - Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria and a mystery partner for WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul, Bron Breakker (c) vs. Penta vs. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio for WWE Intercontinental Championship, Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre in a Sin City Street Fight, Iyo Sky (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley for Women's World Championship, Cody Rhodes (c) vs. John Cena for Undisputed WWE Championship.

Cody Rhodes has said fans will be surprised by plans for The Rock’s WWE return amid rumors the Great One will miss 'Mania. “I don’t mean this in a smart-alec type way, but Rock is a Director of the Board,” he explained to radio host Adrian Hernandez. “The man who is the Final Boss, Dwayne Johnson, is different from the Final Boss. His outside-the-box thinking with Nick Khan, Triple H, he’s part of WWE’s record era, this WWE, Netflix era, so whether he’s in the ring or he’s not, he very much is still very involved with what happens at [WrestleMania] 41.” Rhodes hinted: “I know when he comes back, I know who he’ll come looking for, I know what to expect. What I can say about WrestleMania 41 is, keep the rumours going, keep them churning, enjoy the discourse, but I think what you’ll get will surprise you all.” Dwayne Johnson, a Director of TKO – WWE’s parent company – returned to the wrestling ring for his first major match in over a decade at last year's event.

The latest update has emerged on the status of The Rock potentially appearing at WWE WrestleMania 41 night two tonight. The night two main event sees Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena, in a storyline spawned by The Rock. Rock wanted Cody Rhodes to sell his soul and become Rock’s personal champion, and when Rhodes didn’t do that, Cena did instead, teaming up with Rock and Travis Scott to attack Rhodes three-on-one at Elimination Chamber in March.

The Rock actually hasn’t shown up since then, but has been mentioned a couple of times by Rhodes and Cena in the build-up. In the latest update, Big E made a comment about The Rock on WWE’s official WrestleMania 41 Countdown show. E said he would be “absolutely stunned” if the Final Boss doesn’t show up to get involved in the main event. There are no further updates on his whereabouts as of yet, so read into that comment however you wish. Travis Scott is definitely in town as he was at WWE World earlier.

As fans eagerly await the conclusion of WrestleMania 41, the excitement continues to build around the potential surprises and outcomes that could unfold. With the stakes higher than ever, this year's WrestleMania promises to deliver unforgettable moments and thrilling matches that will be talked about for years to come.
