On March 4, 2025, Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation announced the expansion of its support program "Woori Mirae Seoul Learner," now reaching high school sophomores as well as freshmen. This initiative aims to address educational disparities among vulnerable groups.
The Woori Learner program focuses on selecting future talents who demonstrate strong academic ambition but face environmental constraints. By providing various educational programs and financial assistance for learning, the program strives to uplift students facing difficulties.
For the 2025 academic year, Woori Financial Future Foundation, in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, plans to select approximately 100 outstanding high school freshmen, referred to as "Woori Learner Go1." These students will be chosen for their academic determination and abilities.
Simultaneously, "Woori Learner Go2" will identify around 50 high school sophomores from across the nation. The selection will be based on both academic performance and their motivation for learning.
Participants of the Woori Learner program will benefit from diverse support initiatives, including summer learning method camps, winter intensive learning camps, and academic expenses during the school year. The summer learning method camps will provide educational consulting and special lectures to help students develop effective learning strategies. Winter camps will focus on immersive learning environments, delivering customized lectures aimed at substantial academic improvement over approximately one month.
Notably, Woori Card is collaborating with the program to distribute academic expenses via check card vouchers, which can only be used at select learning-related merchants, such as bookstores and stationery stores, ensuring funds are allocated for educational needs.
Students interested in applying to the Woori Learner program must submit their applications through the Woori Financial Future Foundation and the Children and Future Foundation websites by March 21, 2025. The final selection outcomes will be announced on April 7, 2025.
"This expansion of the Woori Learner program is aimed at providing stable academic support to disadvantaged students leading up to their college entrance exams," said a spokesperson from the Woori Financial Future Foundation. This initiative reflects the foundation's commitment to fostering potential and bridging educational gaps for students who require additional assistance.
