Woolworths And BIG W Unveil New Minecraft Collectibles

Launching January 29, Minecraft Cubeez encourages families to create and collect unique characters and blocks.

Woolworths and BIG W have partnered to bring forth the exciting launch of Minecraft Cubeez, new collectibles for Australian customers, starting on January 29th. This collaboration marks another milestone for Minecraft, which has seen heightened popularity due to its incorporation in STEM-based learning initiatives within Australian schools and the anticipation of its blockbuster movie debut later this year.

Every shopper can add to their collection of Minecraft Cubeez, which are available at no extra cost with every $30 spent on eligible transactions at participating stores. This offer is valid not just at Woolworths Supermarkets and BIG W, but also through MILKRUN and selected Woolworths Metro outlets (excluding BIG W Market and Everyday Market). The Minecraft Cubeez come packaged with one buildable cardboard block, showcasing characters such as Steve and Alex and iconic elements like the crafting table and diamond ore.

According to Andrew Hicks, Chief Marketing Officer for Woolworths Group, the Cubeez initiative aims to encourage families to explore their creativity through interactive play. "Minecraft Cubeez have been crafted for families to ‘unleash their creativity’ and blend digital inspiration with hands-on fun," he stated. Hicks explained the program enhances shopping experiences, making it easy for customers to collect Cubeez when they shop.

Federico San Martin, Senior Director of Minecraft Consumer Products, conveyed excitement over the partnership, noting, "We are thrilled to partner with Woolworths and BIG W to bring this exciting retail partnership, Minecraft Cubeez, to our Australian fans. This collaboration highlights the enduring popularity of Minecraft and its capacity to inspire creativity and imagination both on and off the screen."

The collectibles program is timely, capitalizing on the increasing sales of Minecraft merchandise. BIG W has reported a remarkable 60% increase year-on-year across various product categories, including toys, stationery, clothing, books, and homewares featuring Minecraft branding. This booming interest paves the way for the new Cubeez collectibles to resonate well with fans, invigorated by the franchise's lasting legacy.

Beyond the excitement of collecting, the design of Minecraft Cubeez also reflects environmentally conscious choices, with the blocks made from FSC certified recycled paper. Customers can rest easy knowing these collectibles are 100% kerbside recyclable, aligning with sustainable practices many consumers now seek.

A special collector case will be available for purchase at Woolworths Supermarkets, Metro, and BIG W for $10, allowing fans to neatly store their Cubeez collectibles and showcase their growing collections. This added feature caters to the nostalgic aspect of collectibility, appealing to long-time fans eager to display their items.

The official launch of Minecraft Cubeez promises to offer not just collectibles but also encourages fans to engage creatively with the Minecraft universe. With the fusion of retail and interactive gaming, Woolworths and BIG W are set to inspire families to build, play, and create adventures together outside of the digital world.
