The match is slated to begin at 9 AM and marks the end of the Wildcats' eight-match homestand.
The Wildcats entered the matchup with a record of 7-5 but faced disappointment after suffering a 6-1 loss to the UT-Arlington Mavericks on Thursday. That loss was characterized by the Wildcats losing the doubles point and only securing one singles match victory, prompting the team to refocus as they gear up for the Eagles, who hold a record of 5-3.
Considering their prior performance, the Wildcats will be eager to reclaim their momentum before heading on the road next week for challenging matches against Lamar and Rice, scheduled for March 7 and 8 respectively.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Meanwhile, across the state, the Arizona Wildcats track and field team made headlines at their first-ever Big 12 Indoor Championships. The event began on February 28 and showcased the Wildcats' remarkable talents, particularly on the first day of competition.
Arizona athletes scored numerous points with seven individual scorers, including three who finished as runners-up. Among them was Zach Landa, who shone brightly by securing second place in the Men's Weight Throw with a personal best throw of 73-3.5, earning eight points for his team. Reinaldo Rodrigues matched Landa's success, finishing second overall, this time in the Men's Long Jump, delivering another impressive jump of 24-11.25, also earning eight points for Arizona.
The Wildcats also showcased their potential on the track with six qualifying runs for various running events, where Trayvion White-Austin emerged as the athlete of the day. White-Austin broke the school records for both the Men's 60m and 200m, clocking times of 6.57 and 20.56 respectively, both electrifying performances resulting in qualifying spots for the finals on Saturday.
Other highlights included the performance of Hollan Powers, who secured second place and earned points for the Wildcats during the women's pentathlon, finishing the competition with 4,080 points, her personal best.
