West Kalimantan Prepares For Eid Al-Fitr 2025 With Security And Energy Measures

As celebrations approach, authorities ensure public safety and energy availability for the community during the festive season.

As the Eid al-Fitr celebration approaches, authorities in West Kalimantan are ramping up preparedness efforts to ensure public safety and energy availability. Kapolda Kalimantan Barat, Irjen Pol Pipit Rismanto, spearheaded the launch of Operation Ketupat 2025 on March 20, 2025, which includes the deployment of over 1,300 personnel from the National Police, TNI, and relevant government agencies.

During the ceremonies at the West Kalimantan Police headquarters, Irjen Pipit Rismanto stated that his agency would specifically contribute 729 officers to the operation. This comprehensive effort aims to maintain order and serve the public during the festive period, coinciding with a season of increased traffic and activities.

"We're anticipating vulnerabilities due to heavy rainfall, which can lead to flooding and road blockages. The congestion caused by waterlogged streets is a concern for travelers," explained Irjen Pipit Rismanto. The primary focus will be on shopping centers and residential areas where many locals leave their homes for the festivities. As families embark on their journeys home, these neighborhoods could become prime targets for criminal activities.

To counteract this potential risk, Pipit Rismanto urged the community to report vacant homes to local leaders (RT/RW), who would relay information to the police, ensuring increased patrols in those sectors. This collaborative approach aims to enhance public safety during a time when shopping activity significantly spikes.

In complementing these security measures, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, confirmed on the same day, March 20, 2025, that there would be no energy shortages during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr. His assurance came after a thorough inspection with representatives from Pertamina, PLN Kalimantan, and BPH Migas.

"I am pleased to report that fuel supplies exceed demand, with an additional 10 to 20 percent stock available to ensure the community's needs are met during the holiday," Yuliot declared. This proactive step aims to prevent any energy supply issues that typically arise during peak usage times, such as festive gatherings and travel.

Yuliot emphasized the importance of fuel quality as well, stating that tests had shown that various fuel types, including biodiesel, pertalite, and pertamax, are meeting standards. Furthermore, he personally oversaw checks on the volume provided at gas stations to confirm that measurements were accurate.

"I ensured that the measurement of one liter at the gas station was precise, and I am happy to say that it aligns with the required standards," Yuliot noted. This meticulous attention helps to maintain consumer trust ahead of the busy holiday.

Regarding electricity supplies, Yuliot confirmed that there exists a reserve capacity of 38 percent against current consumption rates. This means that there would be an ample supply of electricity available, further supported by ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing energy capacity for the wider Kalimantan region.

"We want citizens to enjoy the celebrations with their families and travel safely, knowing that their energy requirements are secure," added the Vice Minister. His comments reflect a commitment to ensuring that essential services continue uninterrupted during this significant cultural event.

The dual efforts of the police to enhance public safety and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to secure energy availability are testament to diligent preparations for Eid al-Fitr 2025. As residents of West Kalimantan prepare for the holiday, the focus remains on security and the assurance of necessary services, helping to foster a safe and joyous atmosphere as families gather to celebrate.
